About this deal

THE FIRST EVER OFFICIAL BOOK - Published in celebration of BTS 10th Anniversary, stories that go beyond what you already know about BTS, including unreleased photos, QR codes of videos, and all album information.

Most of the issues in this book boil down to the fact that it reads like an article, which is not surprising, given that the author is mostly a journalist. Though the comic-y and adjective-wrought writing style isn't something I'd enjoy even in an article, it becomes overbearing and too noticeable in a longer form, which it is clearly not meant for. Way too dramatic from the start in its vocabulary, it's constantly drainingly high-energy and doesn't leave space for the actual high points to shine. The article-ness is exacerbated by the previously mentioned number dropping and song descriptions. The book would have benefited from heavy editing and as it is, could have gotten the message across in half the length or less. I think I grew a lot, in a lot of ways. The members didn’t teach me specific things, but I can see them in the way I talk and act. SUGA’s thoughts, RM’s words, Jimin’s actions, V’s unique style, Jin’s cheerfulness, j-hope’s optimisim... things like that all came into me one by one.”If I wanted to improve somehow, I had to practice my singing, but I didn’t know how to practice,” he said. “So I just kept singing blindly. Every time I made a mistake, I went to the bathroom to cry.” I was so scared. It was Christmas Eve and the streets were full of cheerful people, but I couldn’t get my bearings at all.” Beyond the Story: 10-Year Record of BTS” is the first biography of the group, published in time for their 10-year anniversary. Written over three years, the book weaves in an oral history with group interviews by the biography’s author, Myeongseok Kang. Fans might be surprised at the shaggy underdog tale contained therein. Here are some major takeaways. BTS was born in a K-pop dormitory

BTS’s first two years were an exhausting “sweet, bitter, sweet, bitter” merry-go-round. As a result, they constantly felt as though they were teetering on the edge of failure and spent grueling hours in the studio in a bid to survive. Though their fear and imposter syndrome receded over later years, one aspect stayed the same: the never-ending schedule. The way I see it, all of us members are ridiculous. We’re quite feral and therefore stubborn to the end. I love it because in this group, no matter how much our hearts break, we only love the stage even more. “So I fell down, no big deal,” that kind of sentiment.” a b c Cain, Sian (May 12, 2023). "Sorry, Swifties: BTS revealed as authors of mystery book that intrigued the internet". The Guardian . Retrieved May 12, 2023. When we get lots of awards like that... it got ridiculous. Because we’d said only the things we thought we could never achieve, and then we achieved all of them. I think it’s strange.”

I've actually seen BTS live 2 times before and they were both the best days of my entire life. My first time seeing them was in Berlin for their Love Yourself tour in 2018 (which was also my very first kpop concert) and the second time was in Paris for their Speak Yourself tour in 2019. I still remember the chills I got when I saw them on stage and when my fellow ARMY were cheering for them. The mystery surrounding the subject of the book ended on May 11, with the New York Times announcing it is a BTS book. The memoir, titled "Beyond the Story: 10-Year Record of BTS," is being released to celebrate BTS's 10th anniversary as a group. It'll be a particularly meaningful release for fans, as the group is currently on a temporary hiatus from making music as a group as they pursue solo projects and complete their mandatory service in the Korean military. I would say that the majority of the events that are discussed in this book are things that fans who have been following their career for a while already know about. Of course we didn’t know their inner thoughts on everything, but there aren’t too many revelations present here. I was hoping for a bit more in terms of learning completely new things about what was going on away from the public eye. Also, at times bits of the story felt kinda sanitized or glossed over. It was the first time I felt that “so many people are listening to our songs” and it was thrilling. I also thought, “This is what we made music for.”” I am so thankful to the members for getting our acts together, and I want to say how thankful I am to ARMY for always loving us.”
