About this deal

The book is such an easy read with lots of useful information about all aspects of birth and I think it should be recommended to pregnant women by any midwife or even the NHS. The breathing and relaxation techniques are good and helpful for the early stages of labour - but I do feel that for most women, the picture that this paints an unrealistic image of what labour and birth is like.

Through her teaching she seeks to educate and empower women—and their birth partners—so that they can enjoy amazing and positive birth experiences, however they choose to bring their babies into the world. I'm currently a few weeks away from my due date and hopefully, I will have a positive birth experience by practicing the techniques I learned in this book 😊.I don’t know how many times she says to “change the space with electric tea lights” or “listen to a guided meditation or podcast” or how many time she recommends a “quick spritz with an essential oils room spray” but it’s A LOT.

It has completely changes my perspective about labour and made me feel relax, empowered and confident. The author gave an informative account of how to have a mindful pregnancy and be in-charge of your birth. And like I said- even if you are planning an epidural or ceasarian or ANY type of birth, this book is just amazing and reminds us the power of our thoughts and that it should be YOUR decision. I also really enjoyed the participation of your birth partner, so I am eager for him to read this so we can both stay informed and have a calm and informed birth together. It is accepted by you that Daunt Books has no control over additional charges in relation to customs clearance.

I really recommend all my first time moms so just any mom to be to read this book and know that you can definitely do it and there’s such peace to come after reading it. I feel like this book was one of the main things that helped diminish my fears surrounding labour and birth, and I ended up having a beautiful experience. I'm not sure the book gave them credit for that and it felt like it was giving the impression you'd have to put up a fight to get a positive experience of birth. Miller describes active labour as "a spa experience to be soaked up" and pushing as "an amazing sensation you'll want to experience again and again". However, as promising as the initial birth biology 101 chapters were, Miller's perspective comes off overwhelmingly as anti-hospital propaganda. We are experiencing delays with deliveries to many countries, but in most cases local services have now resumed. Expert hypnobirthing coach Siobhan Miller has made it her mission to show women everywhere that birth can be better. Siobhan's advice and guidance will change your mindset and enable you to navigate your birth with practical tools that ensure you feel calm and in control throughout.

Someone I know recommended this book and I read it within a few days … I now have a totally different mindset and excited for birth. Essentially, it's a form of antenatal education, an approach to birth that is both evidence-based and logical. And finally, to have a birth plan - not something to which you need to stick slavishly, but some kind of framework that can guide the experience when it's underway. Hypnobirthing was recommended to me by a close friend who gave birth last year and told me it had helped her tremendously.Even just understanding what your body is actually doing, and what your options really are makes all of the difference. This book really outlines what to expect during each phase of labor for you and your birth partner so you feel ready and knowledgeable. I feel like that's just setting expectant mothers up with unrealistic expectations that leave them unprepared for the reality of childbirth.
