The Nerf MEGA Mastodon blaster boasts incredible rapid-fire speeds to send MEGA Whistler darts screaming through the air from its integrated 24-dart drum. Both were difficult to get started - need to make sure batteries are secure and screwed lid on tight! My son, however, needs the shoulder strap to carry the Mastodon for any length of time, which means he can’t hold it as far in front of him as I do. Rather than try to replace the 3 functional switches with high-current versions, I decided to add 2 relays.

Ours keeps jamming, the magazine won't rotate when jammed so need to use a pipe to push the bullet back into the magazine, this has damaged a couple, not sure why they keep jamming its happening on every discharge of a full magazine. The Mega Mastodon is named after the extinct animal of the same name; it was given this name most likely because of its size.The only things left for me to do are to (1) add a fuse to protect my lipo (for when the pusher motor burns out), (2) carve out some plastic from the battery tray to make space for the lipo, and (3) bring it to a war for field testing.

For the firing hand, the grip is in line with the mega line the grip and is a little oversized compared to the usual Elite grips. Once the dart pusher starts to extend, the pusher switch forces the pusher motor to keep running until the cycle is complete and the pusher is retracted. The difference is the grip needed because of the accelerator trigger setup on the Mastodon versus the push button on the RhinoFire and the traditional trigger on the Vulcan.

I replaced all three motors with Hellcats, and now it doesn't work because the pusher motor is too fast.
