The idea of this blog is to share my passion for reading and review new and upcoming books as well as those that may have been out for several years. No one has ever seen or met Lebau but plenty of the high and mighty have turned out to praise his work. So many times I had to go back and re read what I had just read as I struggled to comprehend what I was reading. The addition of those scenes made the book realistic enough to make sense but deliberate enough to capture your interest. I can’t wait to read more of his thrillers, and with my birthday coming up this month, Steve Cavanagh books are top of my list.

I would like to thank Net Galley and Orion Publishing Group for supplying this novel in exchange for an honest review. So now I have read all of Steve Cavanagh’s books except for Devils Advocate which I am currently reading. I think it’s best if I don’t go into detail with this one - the less you know the more you’ll enjoy it. This is a story of a rising body count in murders, of characters that are nothing as they appear, unreliable memories, and two authors in the process of writing their latest books, one a murderous predator, the other trying merely to survive.The way Eddie was born happened while Steve was doing a trial cross-examination and made the witness tell the truth through an old courtroom trick he used on the poor witness. There were 2 of them but I let go of the first one because miracles happen in the medical field, the second I couldn't let go. No one and nothing is as it seems, it’s best to just fasten your seat belt and go along for the ride. Just when you think you have a handle on what’s happening, the rug is pulled from under you and you are spun around, again and again.

I have read Lee Child, John Grisham, Jo Nesbo, Simon Kernick, Dan Brown, and too many authors to continue on here! But Paul has more he’s hiding than than just his secret life as an author, and Maria has started a chain reaction that threatens them both ….It’s one of those books you want your friends to hurry up and read so you can see if they saw any of it coming or if it took them by total surprise also. Following plenty of books with an unreliable narrator, Steve Cavanagh gives us a whole book with an unreliable author. The book started strong BUT the plot lost steam about halfway, and started to drag, dumping information to try and explain the complicated TWIST.

As he has shown before, Cavanagh is expert at building narrative tension and that skill is well on display here as the police circle in and the other characters become more desperate.
