I noticed that all Micheal Morpurgo books and similar because his books all have an animal or person in it. For generations of teachers, myself included, Michael Morpurgo’s books are an integral part of school life.

In my first year teaching, I adopted the same approach with Kensuke’s Kingdom, my class howling when we had to stop each day at home time. Helped by his new friends, Omar becomes Son of Gulliver – a role that requires him to develop peacemaking abilities. In this tale of the unlikely friendship between Will and Oona the elephant, Michael Morpurgo captures the setting of the Indonesian rainforest to perfection. Michael loves nature and likes nothing more than to sneak out of his house in the mornings to do some bird-watching.The cover may have some limited signs of wear but the pages are clean, intact and the spine remains undamaged. Inspired by a true event as explained in the author’s note, this short story makes a great read-aloud which will surely spark much discussion around the need to better protect our environment. A light read and one that delivers the message that we humans must make significant change to save the planets and it’s animals too.

Michael listened and promised not to forget the important message and that he will pass it on to others. When a boy awakens after being stranded on a sandbank, he finds himself confronted by the legendary King Arthur himself. but then the head teacher came and told the class to get ready to go down to the river because a whale was beached there.This was a fiction book and my favourite character is the whale because he risks his life to tell an important message to help other whales. It has the whale who obviously is desperate to tell a human about his news and what we are doing as to talk infront of a human and risk his own life. The whale has come to deliver a message, and selects the boy as the person he is going to tell it to. The simple and honest message conveyed by the narrative and the beautiful illustrations help to teach a very good life lesson on the climate, friendship and the value of Mother Nature. One boy's special relationship with the whale that swam up the Thames provides a powerful plea to save the envoronment.The book follows a little boy from Battersea who gets up each morning to go to the bank of the Thames and bird watch, one morning he is greeted by a much larger creature. Let there be half an hour of storytime at the end of the day in primary schools up and down the country. My favourite character in it was the Whale as it was very brave to come a long way up the River Thames just to try to get humans to respect them. This morning I met a whale is a great book it is based on a true story about when the whale swam into the Thames on the 20th of January 2006.
