About this deal

We go along with Tara on her journey to discover who she is as she needs reaffirmation and a life adjustment as she has her ‘mid-life crisis’ from spin bikes to hair changes it was definitely hilarious if not a bit over the top sometimes. I mean, if my husband suddenly started doing things with his hair or would start to wear other stuff and also react differently than normal, I would also worry/be confused. So when I started creating content, I knew I wanted to create warts and all content that people would relate to.

And I think that is the message behind this book, in what is a very “𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘢 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵” climate, we are all just muddling our way through life, one day at a time, and it’s perfectly OK to not have everything under control, all of the time - because the internet 𝗟𝗜𝗘𝗦 - and 𝗻𝗼-𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁! My daughter had TikTok for quite a while and I assumed it was just an app for young people, but she would show me hilarious videos and one night my husband and I downloaded it and we found it so refreshing," explains Serena. Terry's first novel Mammy Banter - The Secret Life of an Uncool Mum, explores topics such as "mummy guilt, relationship insecurities, bad hair days and cyberbullying".I listened to the audiobook of Mammy Banter and found myself feeling like I had good company while doing various things around the house. I loved that she was figuring things out on where she stood in life with 3 kids and a job that doesn’t appreciate her and what to do about it. Then immediately follows that up by saying { she would report it but unlike the other women in the office she has kids to worry about and cant afford to lose her job} because the other women in the office can afford to lose their jobs?

It was a talk mainly about resilience, mental health and online trolls, but it quickly turned into off-the-cuff banter. I also read it in a Derry accent (given she’s from Derry ha) which seemed to make it even funnier and warming. I didn't know this was an Irish book (shame on me), and I had to spend a lot of time looking up unknown Irish words as well as modern slang. We’ve all been there, those of us who have children but even those who don’t can understand some of Serena’s hilarious embarrassing moments. There are plenty of cringe-worthy moments too, when the youngest poo’s and of course the many mentions of poo with her youngest two will both gross you out and make you chuckle with laughter. I am actually gutted that Tara is fictional, because I felt she has became a new friend by end of this and I was a bit upset that I had to say goodbye to her. As a matter of fact, she takes a beating over almost anything, but the biggest issue is she gives herself the most extensive beatings.
