About this deal

The author does a great job of interweaving the new interactions with baby daddy, Shane, with the events that led to his conviction and incarceration. They are the main suspects in the kidnapping of the teenage daughter of an American judge named John Morris ( Guy Ecker).

And rather than just kill the daughters (Brooke and Sidney), they go ahead and up the body count because hey, why not? And they certainly don't know that Shane was Brooke's high school sweetheart-the star quarterback who is now spending the rest of his life in prison for a series of grisly murders. Characterisation is good, and the main players are all easy to connect to in some way - good or bad - warts and all in some cases! This book reminded me of one of my favourite novels, however I can't say which for fear of potentially giving away the game but if you've read it, you'll know which one I mean. And for a while the reader was supposed to wonder if Shane was really innocent, sent to prison by Brooke’s damning testimony.I honestly didn’t finish it, just skipped to the end because I couldn’t stand listening to Brooke whine. It was a fun distraction and as long as I turned off my brain, I enjoyed going along for the ride on this one. At the farm, Brooke suddenly has a flash of memory that makes her realize that Shane and Tim were working together. Every time I see a Fitzek novel, I read it immediately, only to spend time in claustrophobic, creepy, horrific environments, surrounded by horrible people. There are three rules Brooke Sullivan must follow as a new nurse practitioner at a men’s maximum-security prison: 1) Treat all prisoners with respect.

The killer who murdered and severely disfigured two young children in cold blood, Guido Tamnitz, has been caught by the Berlin police. Tim asks Brooke out for drinks, and she hesitates, not sure she wants to surround herself with people from her past. His books are impossible to put down, and full of twists that are surprising, but also make total sense.
