I'm still learning , but does anyone else already use this stuff and if so, do you have any extra tips to "heighten the experience?

It was placed in a glass container with a round base with a volume of 10 ml with a screw cap made of plastic.

Normally the final coat consists of 4 - 7 layers and I let it cure for 3 - 4 days at least, to be on the safe side before I hit it with MM. For better paint brushing results use Tamiya Paint Retarder ( Paint Retarder (Acrylic)) for a smoother brushstroke free finish. The Tamiya Acrylic Paint range can be brushed straight from the tub, or thinned to be used in an airbrush. Also, I have tried putting some in Future to tint canopies but not too successful from a constant density perspective. Hi MentalGuru, for the longest time, I found Tamiya clear gloss and gloss acrylics difficult to work with.

I'm doing GK / henchman and wanted an option other than straight gold for all of the wordy bits on the Grey Knight's armor. I usually decant 50% from a fresh bottle into an empty and clean Tamiya jar and top up the rest with Mr. The Tamiya stuff needs a lot more thinning than other airbrush paint and being alchohol based needs it's own thinner. I'll paint the model normally, including the part which will be bloody, and then add the red over that. treadhead1944 wrote:It is a water cleanup paint, if you want to thin it use 90% isopropyl alcohol (might be 91% I'm too far away to look atm).I use the FW Clear Red without an airbrush, it's akin to the old GW inks, so water based and can be thinned with Lahmian Medium or specific airbrush thinner if required. When painting with a brush, it is recommended to use those with natural bristles (for example: PREMIUM SIBERIAN KOLINSKY BRUSH – 1 , High Grade Pointed Brush Sml - DC719 or HG Flat Brush - Small ). More recently I did this with Tamiya clear red, added a touch of clear blue and shot it over metallic rose gold ( rose gold depending on the angle can't quite decide if it a light goldish red/pink or silver red/ pink. Thanks Nikola, I've tried so many different acrylic clears, and all have seemed to take an age to dry.

However, it should be pointed out that excessive use of water can significantly reduce its adhesion to the surface, and in extreme cases, lead to the drying of the paint falling off the model. I believe Truck Norris did This with alot of his newer builds and backed them with silver light buckets.

But I never seem to be able to thin it well with the Tamiya thinner X-20 and paint bigger areas like a canopy without uneven results. I've seen some of that Wrap Up Next stuff listed on RC Mart, I picked up some of their chrome/silver and honeycomb grill for my Mustang already, may have another look and see what their tints are like. Apply multiple thin coats and do not use a substitute thinner like Isopropyl alcohol as this flashes off faster than X-20A thinner. I said I wanted to do this on the traditionally gold bits of the GK armor - the wording, found on the shoulder pads, and in 4 or so places on the body of the armor, I don't think an airbrush will save time there!

I almost never use them for anything except brushing onto wingtip lights and such, the one exception being the warp engine clear parts of a Romulan warbird that I'm working on. You might be able to come up with a combination that has better spraying characteristics than the Tamiya acrylic bottles. Not the best photo in the world but I assure you, all the parts that have been gloss coated are very smooth. Only thing doing this is you have to then leave if a while to harden back up again depending on how heavey you went back over with the thinners. About the only thing I might add to the information you have already gotten from others, is keeping even color coats over whatever base you use.

On the other hand, cleaning of the tools can be performed with ordinary tap water or - in the case of larger dirt - with specialized liquids, such as, for example: CLEANER (100ml) or PERFECT CLEANER .
