Two parents that I know of, one extremely abusive, but neither with any sign of ADHD, who have 3 children with horrible ADHD and the other with major depression issues. Reading this book was so incredible - it offered insight and changed my perspective on all the relationships in my life, though I picked it up because my boyfriend was recently diagnosed. What I'm appreciating is that he doesn't pander, and he doesn't wrap it up as simply a brain function issue, which is what I've felt to be true. ADD rates are higher than ever – and they’re still rising, especially in developed nations like the United States. He was recently featured in the highly publicised livestream conversation with Prince Harry where they discussed loss, trauma and the importance of healing.

I read a lot of very divided opinions about the book, which I don’t understand, and hope not to get caught up in.

Then, I really checked out after the recommendation about how if an ADD child's tendency to go slowly in the morning is becoming a family pain point, just start being late to school.

You got the message absolutely correct and the last thing we need is defensive parents unwilling to absorbs Mate’s message because they feel he’s “blaming “ them.No matter how efficiently they are able to arouse the higher brain centers, medications offer only a partial solution to the problems posed by ADD. And she can’t change her situation, either – her premature brain isn’t capable of mounting a fight-or-flight response.

Wages are stagnating, and fraying community and family ties mean they have access to smaller and smaller support networks. In fact, doctors sometimes miss ADD diagnoses because their patients are capable of hyperattentive focus.Here you will find family stories, an accessible description of brain development and sound information. I haven't yet read the recommendations about children, but my guess is that there's equally helpful information about supporting a child with ADD.
