However, you can also access internet radio for free on your computer or on the relevant smartphone or smart TV apps. We’ve tested the best DAB radios around, and hand-picked the finest in terms of sound and usability. We would like to inform you that due to an update regarding one of the platforms hosting our internet radio service, there are some further disruptions in service to be expected for products running on this platform.
During that time, we’ll also test Bluetooth streaming where available and use battery-powered devices away from the mains to see if the audio quality changes. The vast majority of analogue radio stations are broadcast on FM and while some of these are simulcast in AM, very few are AM-only. I get the impression that my radio will just become a silent ornament if this does ever happen but that hasn't been made clear to me. You’re not going to get bone-shattering sound with this radio set – but that might not be what you want to use it for.
For the record, I have no connection with Pure (or Roberts) whatsoever except as the owner of one working Evoke-3.Using the four preset buttons helps, but even switching from channel to channel or changing the volume involves squinting at the keys to work out which to press. In addition their reponse indicated that I should not be unhappy because the system was outside warranty. If you can’t find any programs that you want to listen to via the radio signals, then you can use the Bluetooth connectivity instead. Sure, in terms of weight or presence it’s not going to trouble the Pure Evoke H3 or the Ruark R1 Mk.

Don’t get us wrong: a good DAB radio makes the most of every station, bringing talk shows and music to life, but if you’re expecting hi-fi quality audio, you may feel mildly disappointed. It’s quick to find and lock on to channels, and while the two-line LCD display doesn’t provide a lot of info, it does the job. Unlike the H2, the H3 takes things up a notch with a dazzling colour display and Bluetooth streaming, so you can listen to all the music you love with ease. Should you wish to listen to music from other sources, you could listen to your own music for example from a mobile device using the built in Bluetooth, giving you a range of possibilities with the Evoke H3.The problem, until fairly recently, was that the UK authorities weren’t making DAB+ mandatory for stations, and only a handful broadcast in the format.
