About this deal

Based from the popular S-DJX series, the monitor pair features a front-loaded bass reflex systems with DECO technology for a punchier sound and wider ‘sweet spot’. Passive speakers have changed in their design and quality over the decades and there’s always something new coming out on an almost weekly basis. There are also stick-on foam pads to put under the speakers; these will help reduce resonance from the surface you place them on, and stop them moving around when you pump the volume up. Subtle in design, the moulded front panel visually looks very professional with a crescent diffuser moulded just below the tweeter.

Every DJ needs speakers to be heard and the DM-40 range by Pioneer DJ is a compact bookshelf speaker system that aims to be more than just a DJ speaker. However, having them blast at just below that amount will be more than enough power for most casual uses. Overall, for those who like monitors that are morevibe-orientedthan accurate, the Pioneer DM 40s are well worth considering. This usually means better sound quality because the cabinet stays still, resonance is not a problem when the speaker cones move to produce sound.Having them increases the spread of the sound image and minimizes the vibrational bleeding of the cabinets. If you need a speaker that defies the regular square shape that other speakers come with, this speaker is an excellent choice for you. Bought these not really knowing if they’d be loud enough for my needs, but I’ve been amazed by the quality, really punchy, and clear bass, and I’ve only turned them less than half way up!

They are targeted at the best entry-level monitor enthusiasts, and they sure manage to deliver a build quality that far surpasses common computer speakers.

The DM 40 Pioneer DJ’s speakers are front-ported, which minimizes the problematic crisp sound quality reflection issues of putting them too close to a rear wall.

The DM40 speakers are made to be turned up and listened to, not to shy away with some background music somewhere. The cabinets' DECO convex diffusers provide maximum rigidity and minimum resonance for a clean sound at all volumes - and they look great in your home set-up. If not, you can make do with the connection types as a beginner DJ, especially if you're going to test your DJ skills at small, enclosed parties. The master has the rotary volume control and white power light on the front, and a sturdy on/off rocker switch plus twin RCA and 1/8″ TRS inputs around the back. I use them as monitors when I mix and although they are small the volume and sound they produce is amazing for the money. The speaker has a beautiful crescent diffuser to lead the high frequencies that nest around the bass driver. They inherit the best from our professional S-DJX series and Pro Audio speakers, including a front-loaded bass reflex system for a rich, tight bass and DECO* technology for a wider reach and sweet spot. With a RCA to Aux cable included in the box, the DM-40 can easily be connected to a wide variety of sources including computers, phones, tablets and of course decks. My only complaints are the power lead pushes it further from the wall when placed on the desk, so not so discreet being quite bulky anyway next to a flat screen monitor, and the power switch being in the middle of the back plate is about the worst place it could be. Time aligned drivers ensure the frequency response is perfectly in sync, creating a harmonious mix every time.
