About this deal

Nice to be backed up by lifetime warranty, even if they are one of the cheaper items in your toolbox. Your tyre-mounting technique could also be a root cause of the problem, so it's worth going over your technique to make sure you're doing it right. The new shape and surface of the tire lever makes the assembly and disassembly of a tire more enjoyable.

The packaging has simple, clear instructions and the hook works extremely well for tyre removal, providing reasonable leverage and a comfortable position to work in. I found you need a short luggage strap to get them on - it holds the tyre in place until you get most of it on. The author may not like steel levers, but if he lived where I live and where the temps get below freezing and he has a flat and whips out his plastic levers and at the first pry the levers break, he'll switch fast to steel! These bike tyre levers are kitted out with a special proprietary plastic composite build, which makes them tough and dependable when removing your tyre from your rim. I have broken one in the past but most other tyre levers would have given up way before the Pedro's did.

Have used classic black Cyclo nylon levers for years at home but black is far too easy to lose at the roadside and can be difficult to find in a large bag. Additionally to that, the shaping of the tyre lever head is very important for giving you enough purchase on the tyre to begin to coax it over the rim in the first place. To achieve this, Silca has used a forged alloy blade and wrapped a 'reinforced nylon rim shield' around it.Unlike makeshift solutions, tyre levers are specially designed to protect the rim and inner tube from the force required to seat a tyre bead.

To avoid this, we'd recommend avoiding the use of metal tyre levers if you can, on carbon rims especially. not sure if it's the tyre or the rim or a combination but I never had this much trouble getting a tyre on in years gone by. Ive removed (and installed) Conti 4 seasons, GP5000s and Schwalbe Durano Plus (all folding bead) on 31mm and 55mm hoops with the halfords levers and while they might have ended up flying 50 meters away from me in a random direction a few times. Forget them and the rest of your puncture repair kit, and unless you have fingers of steel you could find yourself walking home if you get a flat. These radioactive green nylon levers are rigid, and their 110mm length offers enough leverage to get all but the most stubborn wire beaded tyre off without bending or snapping. Although metal tyre levers will rarely snap (although we’ve known some cheaper ones to bend) we’d generally advise steering clear of this type of lever due to the risk of damage to the rims of your wheel – particularly in the case of carbon. The unique chisel tip shape easily inserts beneath the tyre bead and the slightly thicker shape keeps the lever securely in place. They're pretty much what you might think of as ‘normal’ tyre levers , although there are others with a similar looking profile that do have slightly different ergonomics and shapings which aren't as effective. If you ever, somehow, manage to use your gorilla strength to break them, our levers are back by Pedro's lifetime warranty, and we will happily replace them for you.

Every now and then it's possible to find a tyre/rim combo where the fit is either so sloppy that the tyre simply falls into place, or one that is so tight that it takes an army of burly tool-wielding mechanics to get the last few inches of bead over the rim edge. With plenty of leverage and tough nylon construction, Lezyne's Power Lever XL tyre levers are well worth adding to your toolbox if you have a tight tyre and rim combination. The angled tip can cut into the bead slightly, making sliding the lever around the rim more difficult. Some of the best tyre levers incorporate metal into their design to ensure they’re strong enough to cope with extreme forces. He also enjoys bike touring and has completed numerous travels on the west coast of Europe, most recently riding from Lisbon to Roscoff.Unfortunately that pair comes with the Vittoria air-liner insert and don't seem to be available separately. The Pedro’s levers, though, are on another level, being just so easy to slip under the tyre and absolutely rock solid. I like the VAR tyre lever - VERY helpful with tight tyres at the roadside as it enables you mount the tyre without the risk of snagging the inner tube.
