About this deal

The last scene with the main family on the beach that was shot at the end of production got everyone emotional. While the material may seem natural for Shyamalan, Old is actually his adaptation of the 2011 graphic novel Sandcastle by Pierre Oscar Levy and Frederik Peeters. His daughters are now grown up, so for him, Old symbolizes the speed of life in how quickly children seem to age. The resort manager arranges for the family to escape to a secret beach, one that’s “only recommended for special guests.

Old 4K Blu-ray (4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray + Digital)

very enjoyable, even if it doesn't quite reach a full-on metaphysical treatise on life and death and the process that moves the former to the latter. There are also brief interviews with two of his daughters who worked on the film: Ishana, who served as second unit director, and Saleka, who wrote the song heard throughout the film. The detail is sharp and vivid with close-ups revealing all of the practical and CGI effects of aging.M. Night Shyamalan unveils a chilling, mysterious new thriller about a family on a tropical holiday who discover that the secluded beach where they are relaxing for a few hours is somehow causing them to age rapidly - reducing their entire lives into a single day. The deleted scenes are all brief trims that add no essential information, duplicate existing information, or in at least one case, give out too much information. Like nearly everything that Shyamalan does, the overall color scheme for Old is carefully controlled, with yellows, browns, and other earth tones dominating the proceedings.

Old - 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Ultra HD Review | High Def Digest

Shyamalan Family Business– We look at what Night’s two daughters, Ishana and Saleka, contributed to the film and how collaborating with family made filming outside Philadelphia still feel like home.Shyamalan, of course, made a name for himself back in the late 90’s with his breakthrough film The Sixth Sense. which brings out the blues and greens in the ocean and the many browns and grays in the rocks on the cliff that back up to the sandy beach. The extra detail in the native 4K images stands out right from the start, with many refined textures, including the weave of the clothing worn by Vicky Krieps during the opening bus ride. Shyamalan himself, along with the entire cast and crew, including his daughters all talk about working on the film. Facial textures are equally refined, and the beach setting provides plenty of opportunity for environmental detail, such as the way that each individual grain of sand is precisely delineated.
