About this deal

Ask your child to tell you about each photo and scribe their words as captions to gowith the pictures. The bus has a multitude of adventures, including speeding through a plate of beans and falling into the garden pond.

I know some parents have been asking for a little structure and some are happy to pick and choose activities. The text has links to toys, transport, the history of toys and provides opportunities for discussions around behavioural expectations. If sharing this story corresponds with a birthday or other reason for a present you might like to wrap up a toy bus for children to unwrap before introducing the book – a special story about a new toy. They will have the opportunity to sort and categorise the toys and then create a piece of shared information writing as well as their own, before writing their own naughty toy adventure. This is a very unusual picture book with a story told through close up photography and mainly narrated bythe toy bus.

This story is intended for use with a Year 1 class and the PowerPoint contains lesson objectives linked to the Year 1 English curriculum aims. Age 3-5 Ayoung boy receives a toy bus as a presentand hasgreat fun exploring the world with his new toy which turns out to be quite a naughty bus – or is it the boy being naughty? Encourage children to recreate some of the scenes from the story using their own toys eg the tall buildings and traffic in London, the bus queue or in the garden (or park) even the baked bean scene if you can bear the mess!

We are currently changing the writing table into a car so thought I might use this book and just wondered if anyone had activities that worked well that I could adapt.
