About this deal

The track feels more punk than pop-punk, and in an album full of noisy energy its angst stands out as being genuinely bracing. We love being on tour and playing live, and we hate this weird pressure where you don't get played on the radio if you have guitars in your songs [. Power To Play excites on several tracks, and if anyone thought the band would go soft with age they were dead wrong – it just doesn’t need to be turned to 11 quite so much.

The band aimed to free themselves from their Kids Choice Awards presenting past by going independent from their major label and writing songs citing their love of ‘vintage rock’ to a varying level of success with each project before claiming to be disappearing forever in 2016. The younger end of the millennial scale may well be excited about this release, driven by their own sepia tinted nostalgia, but many have moved on to harder rock by now or sunk into the mire of the pop charts. Power To Play’ sees McFly throw off all the shackles of expectations and instead focus on the things they love most about making music together.

If you missed out on getting tickets for the other dates these will likely have the best availability and they go on general sale on Friday 16th June. I’m Fine takes the tempo down and focuses on repressed emotions, the bridge’s repeated lyrics building to a scream at least as intense as anything on 2008’s radio:ACTIVE (“what do you want, do you want from me? And, whilst Young Dumb Thrills, was a huge step forward for the group (both in the physical reunion but also in the production), the output came across a little saccharine at times. Forever’s Not Enough provides an effective contrast between synth-led verses and overdriven hooks, a testament to fulfilling relationships with a little nod to The Darkness halfway through.

The band, famed for their hits Obviously, 5 Colours in Her Hair, and Star Girl, previously played at the LCR in 2012 and at the UEA Sportspark in 2004, and band member Danny Jones played a solo gig at Norwich's Waterfront in 2019.html" title="McFly Setlist O2 Academy Bristol, Bristol, England 2023, Power To Play Tour" target="_blank">
