The 12mm heel-to-toe offset of the Ghost is more than the other daily trainers and is the perfect shoe for beginner runners who tend to strike on their rearfoot.

Brooks inserted an internal heel counter in the shoe to create structure that helps lock your foot into place.

The Ghost isn’t heavy or bulky; it isn’t turbocharged with carbon-fiber or reduced to its absolute minimum weight. The midsole of the Ghost 13 is a dual foam setup of DNA Loft on the lateral side and BioMogo on the medial side.Designers extended the DNA Loft foam out from the heel, through the midfoot and into the forefoot where it partially overlaps with the BioMoGo DNA. The Ghost 13 rides medium soft, just like the Ghost 12 and the Ghost 11 and most of the other Ghost versions. The medium-soft ride results in an incredibly versatile shoe which all daily trainers strive to achieve. In this case, the Nike Zoom Fly 3 and the New Balance Fresh Foam 1080 v10 are among the most expert-recommended alternatives. I’ve run my way through two pairs of ghost 12s, having switched from the Mizuno wave rider, and I am a huge fan.

It made its Ghost debut on the Ghost 11 and continued in the Brooks Ghost 12 where it was paired with a pad of firmer BioMoGo DNA foam in the forefoot. The Ghost 13 isn’t the softest or the most engaging shoe on the market and it doesn’t do one thing particularly well. Like many previous and current Brooks models, the Ghost 15 benefits from the evolution of Brooks’ DNA midsole technology. My first run was on a cold winter morning and I could feel the icy wind on my feet so it’s definitely airy and breathable.

Along with deeper Omega Flex Grooves, and a new upper design, this shoe delivers small improvements while still maintaining the reliable Ghost running experience. A little bit of extra padding lines the heel collar for a plusher step-in feel, and a soft tongue is comfortable on top of your foot.
