It has some issues everyday people might experience and there is a lot of Christmas sparkle and joy to the story. Both women are facing changes ahead for different reasons, and the sense of family is strong in each woman. Emily is struggling to care for her Dad Ray. Her parents were never married and her Dad wasn't around for much of her childhood. However, she loves him and she wants to do the best for him. His dementia is worsening and he just can't look after himself now. Reluctantly, Emily decides that he must go into a care home. It's a wonderful place, full of quirky, interesting residents and Ray will fill in just fine. The staff care for the people there, and there's one staff member who has taken Emily's eye. I was prepared for a bit of a bumpy ride with Merrily Ever After and I certainly got that. But it wasn't overly angsty or anything. From the fun and sexy times to the more emotional ones, I was all in for Elise and Jay. I felt like I totally understood what each of them was going through and struggling with. I never once doubted they would get the ending they deserved, together. In fact, I think the unplanned pregnancy actually strengthened their relationship. They were so freaking good together. The romance and swoons outweighed the harder times and, of course, I ended up a little teary eyed before it was all said and over.Elise, his wife, and Cam his brother are the only two who have really seen the real, Jay. Elise fell head over heels for Jay. He was the man for her and she knew it. Jay took a little longer to agree. The h really was a downtrodden Cinderelly and the H was nightmare of a person. He basically was an arrogant asshat with his demands that his girlfriends "fit" his expectations and if they did not, he was an utter nematode slurping slimeball - I don't blame his long term girlfriend (the h's step sister) for cheating on his sorry rear, he was just useless as a decent person and extremely useless as an H. Merry has a wonderful-sounding shop that sells candles, the name of the shop is Merry and Bright and it sounds amazing.
