The Football Association [The FA] has published its annual report for the 2021-22 season, between 1 August 2021 to 31 July 2022.

This publication first appeared in 1887, produced by the Athletic News as a rival to the Football Annual. Like the older publication, it initially aimed to provided coverage of all football codes popular in England, including rugby football (both rugby union and rugby league after the codes split) in addition to association football. The final edition to date was published in the summer of 2022 for the 2022-23 season, as no deal could be agreed between the authors and prospective publishers for the 2023-24 edition. The annual was for years produced by employees at Hayter’s Sports News Agency under the management of Reg Hayter and long-term editor Albert Sewell, who came up with a design and layout still largely in use today. Launching a mini-football annual known as The Athletic News Football Supplement and Club Directory must have been a considerable gamble with international and FA Cup football still in their infancy and plans for organised national league football still at discussion stage. The book has incorporated a number of illustrations for many years, and since 1948 these have regularly included team photos of a few of the previous season's most successful sides. Since 1985 the annual has also included very brief obituaries ('The Final Whistle') for selected former players and officials dying within the previous twelve months. The 2021-22 season saw record investment into the women’s and girls’ game, culminating in England Women’s historic UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 victory at Wembley Stadium. In partnership with Barclays, the FA helped to deliver the inaugural Biggest Ever Football Session with over 90,000 schoolgirls playing football as part of the Let Girls Play campaign. The FA remains focused on working with Government to ensure that girls can play football in every school across the country.

The majority of lots in the auction are offered under the Auctioneer’s Margin Scheme (AMS) and as such BP is subject to VAT (currently set at a rate of 20% in the UK).
