About this deal

The SB3 is the latest addition to the Serato controller family and inherits many of its features from the ever-popular DDJ-SB2 along with others in the DDJ-S series. The controller provides an instinctive layout, is easily moveable and includes top-of-the-range features, all of which are suited for a beginner DJ. DDJ-SB3 Key Features In contrast, the DDJ SB3 comes with the Serato DJ software Intro, which means you have to pay to use the program's full features. When buying a DDJ SB3, the machine will automatically run by Serato DJ Intro, and you have to pay an extra fee to buy the Serato DJ Pro. Improved DJ controller designed for Serato DJ Lite – Features include world’s first Pad Scratch for performing scratches co-developed with DJ Jazzy Jeff.

You must have speakers to be able to output audio from the controller. How do I connect speakers to my DDJ-400? The Pioneer DDJ-SB3 is a 2-channel DJ Controller solely designed for use with Serato DJ Lite (originally known as Serato DJ Intro) which features Pad Scratch, an industry first! On top of that, Pad scratch has been co-developed with world-renowned DJ Jazzy Jeff. The Pioneer DJ DDJ-SB3 is a brilliant entry-level controller for those wanting to take their first steps into the world of DJ’ing. Compatible with Serato DJ Lite and Djay, the SB3 is compatible with a computer or iOS device. In this beginners guide, we are going to show you how to set up the DDJ SB3 on both platforms, getting you mixing as soon as possible! In addition to the above-mentioned features, there is the new Pad Scratch which allows you to reproduce scratches based on the recordings provided by DJ Jazzy Jeff, simply at the press of a button. There are eight different scratch techniques that have been provided by the well-known DJ, and the scratch speed will automatically match the BPM; so even with little knowledge or experience quality sounding performances can be created. Pad Scratch can be used on its own, or in conjunction with your own scratching, which allows for boundless creative potential. Out of the box, the DDJ-SB3 works with Serato DJ and the DDJ-400 works with Rekordbox DJ. The DDJ-SB3 is also compatible with Virtual DJ 8, while compatibility with the DDJ-400 is forthcoming.

However, the DDJ SB3 comes with the Serato DJ Intro software, and only that program works well on the SB3. Users with USB-C iPad devices can bypass the adaptor, using a USB-B to USB-C cable. Do note this method disables the iPad charging, so keep an eye on battery levels! They don't need to pay for the full software anymore because the price for the premium has already been added to the controller's total cost. The DDJ-400 does away with the individual FX sections and instead distils all FX control into a Beat FX strip that sits beside the mixer at the centre of the unit. This is consistent with the Beat FX that you’d find on a Pioneer DJ DJM mixer such as the DJM-900NXS2, DJM-450, DJM-750MK2 and so on. This allows beginner DJs to get used to tweaking with Beat FX at home so it isn’t confusing when getting behind a CDJ/DJM set-up, which admittedly isn’t as intuitive as using the individual FX sections of past DDJ controllers. 5. The DDJ-400 and DDJ-SB3 have a similar overall size and weight. Both are Pioneer DJ’s most compact devices in its DDJ range of controllers, and while their general build is similar, the main differences lay in the controls and how they are laid out on both devices. The DDJ-SB3 improves on the renowned DDJ-SB2, which gained a strong reputation with a wide range of DJs – from beginners to pros – thanks to its combination of professional features and easy portability. The interface of the DDJ-SB3 is even more intuitive to use than its predecessor’s, inheriting traits from the layouts of the top models in the DDJ-S series, including the introduction of the dedicated play and cue buttons and the independent Auto Loop button. The Rekordbox DJ, built-in with the DDJ 440, is in "premium" mode, so the DDJ 440 users can explore every feature that the Reokordbox offers.

Both DJ controllers share the same mixer features like filter, headphone cue buttons, master level, and load buttons. Both are fantastic entry-level DJ controllers at beginner-friendly prices, and ultimately your decision will hinge on whether you’d like to spin with Serato DJ or Rekordbox DJ. You do lose the Pad Scratch feature if you go with the DDJ-400, but you can scratch on both devices using the jogwheels anyway. In this video, founder and tutor Jamie Hartley explains how to get started with Serato DJ Lite. Pioneer DJ DDJ controllers have used this system for years, and can be found from the cheapest of models to flagship units like the DDJ-RZX.Before connecting the Pioneer DJ DDJ-SB3, ensure you have the latest version of Serato installed on your computer, available here .
