About this deal

The extra strong roast blend has been darkly roasted to give that big and bold, smoky flavour loved by the Italians. Combine with milk to make a delicious latte or have yourself a trendy espresso. We’re excited to share everything you need to know about the Makita Coffee Maker in our review, let’s dive in! The cordless Makita coffee maker appeases the needs of coffee lovers in the trades who work with Makita tools daily. The Makita 18V coffee maker is the most used battery-powered coffee pot with a battery attached and slid into the 18V setting. The mug has been designed to fit snugly into the machine so that you don’t get splashed by scolding hot water. It also comes with a lid to prevent dust entry. By way of a small hole, the lid is even attachable whilst your mug is in the machine brewing. The lid is an added bonus for keeping your coffee hotter for longer, too.

The machine won’t brew a carafe as large as you’d expect of a domestic drip coffee maker. However, considering it is battery-operated, it still brews an impressive amount. In essence, the machine is a cordless kettle, with the heating elements battery powered rather than relying on AC power. How To Brew Coffee With The Makita Coffee Maker

However, keep in mind that you also need a Makita battery to make it work. If you already own Makita cordless tools, then you have one that you can use for the coffee maker as well. Comes with a dedicated coffee cup as standard and perfectly fits with the unit. The cup also comes with a lid that allows coffee to drip in whilst keep the coffee warm and dust out. Surprisingly enough, battery-operated coffee makers actually aren’t as commonplace as you’d think. However, we’ve managed to sample and take a look at some of the most prominent models on the market, just so that we could share our findings with you! The coffee maker works on Makita batteries only. In case you already own one, then the price tag of this coffee maker is rather affordable. But buying one separately increases the total price of the model. FAQ The Makita DCM501 is compatible with Senseo coffee pods. Although the Senseo pods measure 62mm in diameter, they are compatible with the machine.

The first thing you notice about Makita DCM501Z is that it’s the same signature blue shade as other tools by the same brand. If you already own Makita tools, having everything in the same style is definitely eye-pleasing. However, if you don’t own Makita tools, that means you have to buy the brand’s battery just for this coffee maker, which adds up to the cost. Depending on the type, a battery can cost half the price of the coffee machine! Suppose you are prioritizing the battery life of your Makita tools in a work environment where there are no external power sources to recharge them. In that case, this coffee maker may not be the most energy-efficient way to get the most out of your limited battery life, no matter how much of a priority coffee is to your day. The top of the coffee maker has a carry handle for increased portability. What’s also striking is its lightweight, particularly if you’ve just been holding a 10lb chainsaw. The Makita coffee maker, at just 3lb, is positively featherweight by comparison.

General

Sold as body only, batteries and chargers are sold separately. Comes with a dedicated coffee cup as standard and perfectly fits with the unit. The cup also comes with a lid that allows coffee to drip in whilst keep the coffee warm and dust out. Well, at least you can save up on buying paper filters, given the machine has a permanent drip filter. However, because the battery doesn’t come with the machine, you’ll have to buy it separately if you don’t use other Makita products with the same battery. If you use one of the batteries on another tool, you can simply slide it into the coffee maker when that tool is not being used. However, they are quite expensive, so keep this in mind when factoring in the overall cost. Because of this, you can rest assured that Makita’s cordless coffee maker offers every bit as much quality as its power tools. But how good is the brewing experience, and is the coffee it produces up to scratch? Let’s find out. Due to being battery-operated, the machine does take a while to heat up the water. But then again, how long does it take you to get to the nearest coffee shop?

All in all, as we said before the Makita DCM501Z is definitely our favorite – it’s convenient, reliable, and built to last. Even though it is our recommended choice, we can understand why some consumers would want to forgo it; the combined cost of both the coffee maker and the battery could definitely be a turn-off.The designers advise using 10g of coffee per serving. This fills the little mesh container about halfway. You might be inclined to fill it all the way to the top, but in our experience, this is a bad idea as you then have way too much coffee for the amount of water used for each brew. Since this coffee maker was crowd-funded, there are no past or future models to compare it to. But those looking to get a bit more hands-on and technical with their pour-over coffee can always graduate to the classic Chemex.

While the Makita DCM501Z promises a hot cup of coffee, we noticed that finished brews were around 176 F° or 80 C°. While this is still quite impressive for a battery-operated coffee machine, it’s somewhat disappointing if you were expecting something piping hot. It gets even worse if you drink your coffee with milk, as this further lowers the temperature of an already somewhat tepid cup of coffee. It’s also worth pointing out that this coffee machine works with pods and ground coffee, so bring along your best grinder so that you can enjoy the freshest possible cup of Joe. Put the desired amount of coffee into the mesh basket, and fill the water tank with the desired amount of water. Hot water is unnecessary as the heating elements within the battery-operated machine will do the heating for you rather than by a separate cordless kettle. Slide in the battery needed for your brew and push the start button on the front of the coffee machine. All that now remains is to wait, which is arguably the most challenging part. The coffee maker will automatically turn off after the brew cycle is finished, and it will even shut off to protect the machine from damage if there is not enough water in the water tank ( 1). However, it is also a full drip coffee maker unlike other products on the market. Other products have fewer features and require more work. This item replicates a drip coffee maker that runs on a battery and even has the power to heat up your water for you. Final VerdictNow, what I like about this machine are the options. You can choose between coffee grounds and pods, depending on your preferences. To use one of the available battery options, slide the case to the desired battery side depending on the amount of coffee you wish to brew. If you are looking for an easy-to-use machine worth your money, consider this ion cordless coffee maker compatible with both coffee pods and ground coffee. No paper filters are needed to make a hot cup of lithium-ion cordless coffee that you can be proud of at work using battery-powered tools.
