Arena blanca» es una novela gráfica que se desarrolla en el mundo de Taldain que a su vez forma parte del gran universo del Cosmere. La novela gráfica nace a partir del primer libro que escribió Sanderson y que nunca vio la luz. Ya sabemos que el autor es muy prolífico, pero escribir el resto de sus libros le quitó el tiempo necesario para reescribir esta historia y publicarla como una novela, por eso se adaptó a cómic. La idea general de Sanderson cuando ideó la novela no sé si es la misma del resultado final de éste cómic. Aunque la historia me ha gustado y mucho, me ha faltado algo o no me ha parecido tan buena como sus otras novelas. Además el final me ha dejado un regusto amargo de final abierto, pues veo que la historia aquí no ha terminado, si no que Sanderson pensó continuar la historia ¿lo veremos alguna vez? ¿En forma de novela o cómic?

Nos encontramos dentro de Taldain, uno de los planetas del Cosmere, en dónde en uno de los continentes es completamente de día y en el otro es completamente de noche. Khriss, del lado nocturno, viaja al lado diurno para buscar información y ampliar su conocimiento. Por otra parte Kenton busca convertirse en maestro de arena y demostrarle a su padre que él puede sostener ese poder.cuanto al dibujo, el cambio de artista a mi al menos me ha chirriado bastante, siendo muy distintos entre ellos y notándose demasiado en colores y trazos. Finally I found the ending a but hum drum, especially compared to Sanderson's other works. The story itself was interesting enough and hinted towards lots of interesting plot lines that were going on in other parts of the world, but there was little in the way of dramatic twists or revelations that completely altered the story or how we perceived past actions. It wasn't a bad or boring story, to be sure, just not up to the typical Sanderson standards, a failing I attribute to the medium constraining what sort of information can be communicated to the reader. que hablamos de Brandon Sanderson lo ponemos en un pedestal gracias a su imaginación, su forma de crear mundos o por su originalidad a la hora de dar vida a sus historias.

Khriss was insufferable though her character improved towards the end. Instead Ais replaced her as one of the worst characters I've ever seen. I hated her inner dialogue. It was so cringe. It reminded me of Warbreaker which I used to consider by far the worst Cosmere novel. Well, now it has a companion. When I first heard there will be omnibus of this series I couldn't wait and held off on purchasing the separate volumes. This book allegedly contains many improvements. Kriss's notes were cool and added explanations of how magic in this world works. I know that the prologue is also exclusive to this edition. But if anything else was improved I can't imagine the original. They should've spent the resources on redrawing the last chapter of volume 2 which is atrocious. Don't know the reason why it was done by different artist but the other two artists managed to capture the atmosphere quite well. This chapter was full of clinically clean low budget looking drawings which are also sadly present in many other comic books nowadays. No wonder everyone (including me) prefers manga. In a brief intro, our heavenly leader Brando Sando, head of the Church of Sandernism, and devout member of the cult of Joseph Smith, asks of himself, ”Could I come up with a desert planet that wasn’t just a clone of Arrakis or Tatooine?” Answering his own question he says, ”I was successful, for the most part”. Well… Not really. It feels very reminiscent of both the aforementioned locales actually. Complete with its own Sarlacc, I mean Sand Worm! I mean… Sandling? As well as some handy desert mounts called “Riding Tonks” which are like a mix between Star Wars’ Eopies and Tauntauns. En el prólogo del libro Sanderson menciona haber sido bastante influenciado en un principio por Dune, y que después trató de crear algo más propio. El protagonista, Kenton, es un muchacho decidido a probar a su padre que esta equivocado y puede llegar a ser un maestro de arena (como un Aang a la inversa ;P), a pesar de tener muy pocas capacidades , o casi ninguna de hecho (lo que después de haber leido hace poco El Rithmatista hasta me recuerda a otro personaje). Después hay un ataque y el mundo de él parece a punto de desaparecer. Aparecen nuevos personajes, una duquesa (donde el lado oscuro quiere decir otra cultura y no algo siniestro, er creo) que anda en busca de respuestas, guerreros fanáticos, y probablemente un cambio de gobierno o algo mucho más ominoso tratándose de este autor. Khriss was *completely* recharacterized. Her prologue and new scenes frame her as a main character alongside Kenton, and the book really feels like it's as much her story as his.But candidly, we cannot afford to lose more money by giving money away. I know many think that digital is cheap and easy, but it’s not. It really is not. If it was a simple solution, then I would be for it, but it’s not. El sistema de magia como siempre ha sido increíble pero se me ha quedado algo floja la trama en si; así como las explicaciones sobre ciertas cuestiones a las que le han faltado profundidad para que se entendieran bien, seguramente ello se deba al propio formato de novela gráfica, dado que no dudo que en formato de libro tradicional la historia hubiera ganado mucho por poder estar mejor desarrollada, tanto la trama como los personajes.
