About this deal

The next morning on the way to work Alex stops by the morgue to talk with the coroner regarding Margot's file and photos of her autopsy. He is told by the coroner that the records are not filed there and that he would have to formally request them, which he does. COBEN RAISES THE BAR FOR LITERARY WHODUNITS, Contra Costa Times, June 24, 2001 (quite positive review states, "... Harlan Coben with Tell No One which sets a new standard for traditional mystery fiction") The pacing in this book makes for a brilliant mystery thriller - no time for unnecessary information or wordy explanations, it's a real rollercoaster ride! Capt. Maya Stern Burkett, the heroine of this stellar standalone from Edgar-winner Coben (The Stranger), has suffered more than her fair share of tragedy. Her career as a U.S. Army Continue reading » He continued writing the Myron Bolitar series until Tell No One, which was the first standalone thriller novel written after many years. It was published in 2001.

After graduating from college, Harlan started working at a company that was owned by his grandfather, in the travel industry. This book works very, very hard to convince you that the two lovebirds were truly soul mates. I guess Coben has to really sell that idea so that you’d believe that anyone would risk their lives to find the truth so I get why he writes it like that. It still makes them unbelievable characters because they’re just too perfect as a couple, and that prevented me from fully buying in to the story. If you really want to be a writer, you have to read more!" - these words have echoed in my head since I took that brilliant course, since I came up with yet another innovative novel concept based on a dream that would surely look phenomenal on paper, that I just, couldn't quite work out how to write down. Edgar-winner Coben's 10th Myron Bolitar novel (after Long Lost) is a perfect 10: providing readers with new information about the past of the former athlete turned agent and owner of MB Reps; a Continue reading »

But there's one moment in particular that really did it in for me. Without going into too many spoilers, there is a moment when one of the Agents is questioning Elizabeth's parents about their daughter's death. When the Agent is just about to impart a key suspicion within the case, this inexplicably happens:After a six-year hiatus, it's good to herald the return of Myron Bolitar, the former Boston Celtics basketball star who became a sports agent and crime solver in Coben's sprightly, Continue reading » While Alex is visiting Helene, Alex's sister Anna is participating in an equestrian meet sponsored by Gilbert Neuville in honor of his son who was an equestrian jumping champion who died eight years ago in 1997. When Anne shows up at Helene's apartment, she announces that she placed second, is very tired, and is going to bed. Helene whispers to Alex that she and Anne had had a little fight, that Anne was suspicious of Helene having an affair with a woman at work. Alex thereafter visits Margot's mother and father where he confronts Margot's father regarding how positive he was when he identified his daughter's body after the murder. Out of this conversation we learn that Margot's father was a captain in the police force at the time and that Alex never viewed or identified his wife. Margot's father is irritated by all of Alex's probing questions and eventually asks him to leave. The novel and movie have significant differences. The novel takes place in the U.S., while the movie takes place in Paris. The following is the movie version.
