About this deal

These bins are not water-proof. But in my opinion they are more rugged and durability should not be a major concern.Infact, in thise price range, probably there is no bin which come with water proof facility. I dropped them couple of times, but still they work same as the day i bought them. Very good for the price. The night sky looks amazing. Good for bird watching. Definitely a good beginner pair! Extremely durable high-quality protective coating to lengthen the life of your binoculars and keep you travelling for longer too. Great field of view – The 10x magnification and the 50mm lenses provide a good sized 114 metres field of view with an angle view of 65 degrees. I compared them side-by-side with Nikon Action. I must mention that, nikon is a bit better than these olympus bins in brightness as well as clarity.

Sorry to say that there was some typo's in the above review posted by me. Please note the corrections: Heavy duty – These binoculars consist of 855 grams in weight so they are definitely built to last, but not recommended to use for hours without a tripod. Big surprise for my husband, and he was over the moon, but unfortunately the moon and stars have not been visible for us so still waiting to be amazed. But, my humble opinion is that, rather than getting 10x50, go with 8x40. Olympus DPS I 8x40 bins are simply superb. Theh are not bulky, have less weight with great field of view and the performance is equal or better than the 10x50 versions.

Olympus Trooper 10x50 DPS Review | Tested by GearLab

I had a pair of revelation astro 20x80 binoculars which were big and very difficult hold by hand. So I placed them on my tripod and guess what the image stabilised to be a lot clearer. But... I certainly didn't think of them as an alternative to a telescope. Takes just as long to setup, cant see as much or have as many uses as a telescope. At 20x80 you are really limited to the larger deep sky objects and globulars. I switched to a pair of 7x50 Essenbach binoculars and the difference was astonishing. 20x80 was a novelty but the binoculars were of poor quality and the sharpness didnt match the Essenbach binoculars. Eye-cups are made of rubber. They are of quite good quality and i dont think they would break even if we pull down them often. Glass-wearers need to pull-down the eye-cups for full field of view. Constructed with quality components and high end Bak-4 prisms and multi-coated optics to produce an excellent binocular that are perfect birdwatching binoculars. Designed to withstand the elements, the 8x42 Magellan binoculars from Olympus also make great wildlife, sports and general use binoculars. Focus knob is in center and its quite smooth. Focus is smooth and fast and deliver crisp images as well.It takes 2-3 turns to focus from farther object to closer one. Probably a great feature which i liked in this porros. Di-opter adjustment is not that much stiff. Often it moves from its postiion after long-time birding, Often i need to re-set it.The width of the binocular lens barrel (i.e. 42mm) is the equivalent of an aperture in camera lenses and is an important value in determining the amount of light entering the binoculars, and thus the luminance of the scene as it appears in the eye piece. The larger the barrel (the greater the number), the brighter the scene will appear. The downside to a wider barrel optics is that the physical size and weight of the binoculars is increased. We are fascinated by nature. We love the excitement of observing a spectacular moment, crystal clear and in perfect detail.

Described as easy use, easy view everyday binoculars, that are both affordable and stylish, the Roamer all-purpose binoculars from Olympus are both compact in size and light in weight so you can easily carry them no matter where your destination. An adapter slot makes it easy to use the DPS R Series binoculars with almost any tripod available today. This versatility is especially welcome in stargazing and bird-watching. Field of view is 371ft /1000 yards. A great field of view, probably equal or better than many other roofs and porros for 10x magnification. The view is quite wide and it is a pleasure to watch fast moving warblers with these bins. Myself during difficult times has given me much pleasure in viewing the nighttime sky. And also the birds visiting my garden .

Olympus 10x50 and 8X40 binoculars review - Are the budget Olympus 10x50 and 8X40 binoculars review - Are the budget

Eye Relief measures 12mm, which is okay for non-glass wearers. I dont wear glasses, but still i could not see entire field of view. I need to pull the rubber eye-cups down to see the entire field of view, which bugs me a lot while birding. Eye-relief is quite poor when comparable with other bins. I need to press my eyes on the eye-piece to see the field of view better. Of course it causes, headache and nausea after long time using. The DPS R Series' standard porro-prism design balances convenience and portability with superior cost performance. This combination makes the lineup ideal for a range of pursuits - sightseeing, spectator sports, bird-watching and more.

Clarity of the image is very good. I could clearly read tiny letters in a small board 200 feet away.Resolutions and contrast is also very good. Ofcourse they do suffer from C.A but its quite minimal.(I am a newbie and not and optics expert. So, i cant comment more on this issue.). Binoculars can be identified by the numbers that appear in their description, i.e. 10x50, 10x42 or 8x42. This number denotes the magnification (eg. 10x or 8x magnification) by the lens barrel width (42 millimetres). With excellent options for all levels of user, from compact, small models for casual wildlife watchers or theatre goers, to professional waterproof models from Leica and others. With a magnification power of 10, the Troopers provide a powerful punch in tandem with an optical lens size of 50. This allows for the Troopers to work in multiple lighting conditions, even low light setting such as dawn or dusk. Once again, the down side to these binoculars is that their large magnifying power results in a shaky image unless you can steady the binoculars while viewing an object. Here is a my opinions of Olympus DPS I 10X50. I have used them for quite long time, and almost in every situation. This review is a small contribution on my side for this forum. I simply love to discuss and share the experiences about binoculars.
