Smok recommend the 1.4ohm pod for nicotine salts and the 1.0ohm pod for regular nicotine ejuices but I found them to both be good for either. The 1.0ohm mesh pod will deliver a slightly stronger throat hit but it’s still perfectly fine for use with nic salts. Smok Novo's must be some of the worst devices on the market. Far too easy to get the wrong coils for it, and if you do get the correct coil it will probably leak everywhere. Bad battery life With respect to performance, the NOVO 2 –like its predecessor –is decent, I just don’t think it quite hits hard enough to get inside our Best Pod Vape Guide, alongside the likes of the UWELL Caliburn and Orchid Ultra.

Conversely, if you’re the proud owner of the original NOVO device, the NOVO 2 will offer a familiar feel and function, but probably won’t seem like a “game-changing” advancement. Other than that, the SMOK Novo 2 is a great little pod vape that is inexpensive, simple to use, and super-portable. As a secondary vape, it is great. I used mine predominantly like this, either when traveling or out with my friends, and it worked perfectly. Vaping with the Novo 2 has been awesome. The pods take a fill to break in but once they do they’re amazing. I’m particularly impressed by the 1.0ohm pod. The mesh produces accurate and full flavor that is surprising to get from a pod vape. It’s not on the level of an RDA (no pod vape is) but it’s definitely good. The draw is a little looser than I prefer but the quality of vapor makes up for it big time.

As before, the SMOK Novo 2’s pods are removable and 100% refillable. They each hold 2ml and you have options for either 1ohm or 1.4ohm coil heads. You get a different draw from each of the included pods but it’s a small difference. The 1.4ohm pod is a tight mouth-to-lung draw. The 1.0ohm pod is a looser MTL draw. If you like a tighter draw you’ll probably prefer the 1.4ohm pod but if you like a draw that is a little more airy you’ll like how the 1.0ohm pod hits.

This kit has a host of features that make it one of the simplest devices to use, including inhale activation, which means you just need to puff on the mouthpiece to vape. To ensure that this kit is easy to use, it will also select the correct wattage for any of the compatible pods when they are inserted. So, whether you prefer more vapour and the looser draw of an RDTL pod or the tighter inhale that more closely resembles the feeling of a cigarette, the Smok Novo 2X will automatically select the correct settings, so you you can just fit your pod and start vaping. When the battery life is under 30%, the draw gets noticeably weaker. I would suggest charging your Novo 2 when it’s at the red level to save yourself the weak and unsatisfying draws. There’s no way to adjust the airflow on the Novo 2 so you’ll have to live with what the pods provide. But in my opinion they’re great for MTL vapers and aren’t so restricted that you have to struggle, but also aren’t too loose and airy. Each pod has a nice draw resistance. The MTL draw is nice and tight, though I would have liked a tad more vapor on the inhale. Compared to the UWELL Caliburn, my current #1 favorite pod system, it feels a little underwhelming. It’s good, but it’s just not quite as good as the Caliburn.
