About this deal

This book has most of the contents that we expect from Dan Brown. Conspiracies, double agents, lies, and treason. The negative we can point out is that there is no historical extravaganza as seen in other Brown novels. We can't blame it much as it is a techno-thriller. In it, Langdon arrives at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao to attend the unveiling of a discovery that “will change the face of science forever”, but guests are left reeling when the evening is blown apart before the discovery can be revealed.

The italics are not mine by the way, they are in the text. Neither are the italicised pieces of dialogue, rather they are the characters thoughts. Brown’s intention in the repetition is probably to add emphasis but it just makes the reader feel like the author is assuming they are too slow to follow the obvious in his text. The character comes off a little dim as well. There is much that could be said about Dan Brown’s ‘style’. Probably the aspect that annoys me the most is where he keeps repeating himself: By then, I already knew who Dan Brown was (it's not like I was living in cave, hehehe) but I still have to read his way popular books with the character of Robert Langdon. (While I already watched the two film adaptations done so far) Not as good as Angels and Demons and The da Vinci code, but not as bad as The lost symbol, Digital fortress is the career start of a novelist who used good oldfashioned knowledge in a unique, new way on his way to literary immortality. Is it just me or does this read like Dan Brown was typing this with one hand? Why does Mr. Stud have the same initials as the author? Why would anyone want a sharp green wit? And is 'fruit shake' some sort of code for a handy? Is that why he is still dripping? This was the book which brought me to the beautiful world of books. Before reading this book I though reading was a bit cissy and a waste of time since everything is fictional, why not better read some spiritual/self help and knowledge books. After reading this book everything changed, I started to read more and more fiction and today books have become one of the most important parts of my life all thanks to this books.

This is the third book by Dan Brown that I have read (the other two being The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons) and I think by now it's safe to say that I don't like him as an author. This is vintage Dan Brown before his The Da Vinci Code fame. A president on the precipice of losing re-election is about to make a stupendous announcement that may save his presidency and the fate of NASA. Beneath hundreds of feet of ice in the Arctic, a satellite discovers a meteorite. This one is not your typical iron-core, space remnant. This one has… and here, I won’t spoil the surprise. When a new NASA satellite detects evidence of an astonishingly rare object buried deep in the Arctic ice, the floundering space agency proclaims a much-needed victory…a victory that has profound implications for U.S. space policy and the impending presidential election. This thriller - later auctioned into a multi-million-dollar Hollywood film treatment - focuses on Robert Langdon, a Harvard University professor of symbology, who is in Paris on a speaking engagement when he is woken in the middle of the night by the French police and implicated in the murder of the Louvre Museum curator. I thought I will miss Langdon so much, yet there's still touristic historical visits, blowing mind information, not just about Internet and digital codes, but even more. Like the atomic bombs and ,of course, NSA.. which I'm sure not many heard about 15 years ago ,when the novel released and it was Netscape ,when the Internet wasn't that big... Both books revolve around conspiracies within the Catholic Church, but most of the action in Angels and Demons takes place in Rome and the Vatican. Here, you will find a very good story about the possibility of finding alien life. But maybe not in the way that you were expecting. But a more realistic scientific approach. I liked a lot the way of how Dan Brown proposed his idea of the finding of alien life, since it can be easily the way as it will happen in real life.

This novel was more of a political thriller, since it follows a secret NASA and the American Government have been hiding from the public. It was a well thought out plot with great character development, but I wanted more out of the novel. I wanted a little more suspense and thrills in this novel similar to Digital Fortress. My first reaction to Deception Point was that it has no codes! Dan Brown, the master of codes has indeed written a book without codes! Interesting! God, Science and Our Search for Meaning was developed by the Planetarium's in-house production team working alongside Dan Brown and in consultation with a diverse group of advisors throughout its four-year production. Thought leaders in science and religion contributed guidance in ensuring the film took great care covering this intersection. Today, the Museum of Science, Boston announced the date for the premiere of its new Planetarium film, God, Science, and Our Search for Meaning, written and narrated by international bestselling author Dan Brown. The 30-minute film, opening November 11 at the Charles Hayden Planetarium, is a result of a unique collaboration between Brown and the Museum over the last four years. The story, however, was inspired long before that by Brown’s childhood visits to the Museum.Brown has an impressive grasp of his material. He is a more astute storyteller than most of his brethren in the thriller vein.

In conclusion, I did not like the book Digital Fortress by Dan Brown. Not only do I not care for this type of story, I could not get past the writing. How does this happen? We have 4 read-alikes for Deception Point, but non-members are limited to two results. To see the complete list of this book's read-alikes, you need to be a member. Death, in this forsaken place, could come in countless forms. Geologist Charles Brophy had endured the savage splendor of this terrain for years, and yet nothing could prepare him for a fate as barbarous and unnatural as the one about to befall him. There's a reason why everyone talks about The DaVinci Code and not about this book. I have no idea what that reason would be, because I thought Angels & Demons was mediocre so I never bothered to read the The DaVinci Code. Anyway, I was bored and a copy of this was sitting at the library for a quarter and I thought "WTF, mate, I'll give it a go." Another fast-paced thriller dealing with the NASA from Dan Brown. I found this novel to be right on par with Digital Fortress and thought that it was a very well-written thriller. From start to finish Deception Point takes the ball and runs with it like any other Dan Brown thriller. I like that the plot moves around in scenery from the Arctic to Washington, DC and a few points in-between keeping the action flowing and the characters moving around instead of being static in one place. With the White House in the balance, the President dispatches White House Intelligence analyst Rachel Sexton and a team of experts to the Milne Ice Shelf to confirm the authenticity of the find.
