About this deal

Let’s just be honest before I get into the review. If you haven’t read Things We Never Got Over, then you need to read it before you read this one. There are a few loose ends in terms of plotlines you won’t understand unless you read the first book. Aside from that, you’re good to start this one upon finishing it. Having Lina essential for him to feel again reminds him of his father’s addiction to go on with life. You make me feel things. And after going long enough without feeling anything, feeling something--even if its anger or adrenaline--is better than the nothing." Nash says this, but it honestly could apply to both Nash and Lina.

Whenever you’re close, everything is better. The closer you are, the easier I breathe, the less I feel like life is just a never-ending pour of lemon juice into an open wound that won’t heal. You take away the dark, the cold. And you remind me what it’s like to want to be here.” Something in this book that I liked is that our heroine Lina has a pixie haircut. I know that probably seems random, but sometimes I get so tired of a stereotypical heroine with big doe eyes and pouty lips. I think that's also why I thought Falling Hard for the Royal Guard was cute! Maybe he’s here to have sex with you. Like some kind of dark sexy fairy granting dirty wishes,” I teased. I noticed Knox didn’t bother greeting Lucian when he joined him. Looked like the pissed-off-ness was contagious. “I’d rather go to the gynecologist and the dentist on the same day,” Sloane said.

Knox knows good things never last, so anything more than a casual relationship has never been on the table for him. He doesn’t like strings, and he moves on at the first sign of an attachment. He hasn’t been with a local girl since high school, to the disappointment of many. When he is in the mood for a good chase, he heads out of town for a night or two of fun and pleasure. The routine has grown tiresome, though, which might explain his irresistible attraction to a certain newcomer. Little Miss Daisies in Her Hair is not his type at all. She is uppity and needy, and her vocabulary is too big. He hates that he wants her so badly, but if he cannot have her, nobody can – his brother Nash in particular. Anyways...would I recommend this book? Yes but know that this book is kinda long-winded. And only read it if you've read the first book in the series b/c what Lucy does well is character development so its definitely good to know the characters from before as well. Icy fire danced in Lucian’s eyes. “No one will get near her,” he promised. “She’ll probably give you shit about the attention,” I warned. Something that almost looked like a smile played over his handsome face. But then it was gone. “I won’t be run off as easily this time.” She hopes to someday write from a sailboat, oceanfront condo, or tropical island with reliable Wi-Fi. Her spice is good and there's a lot of it, but its not emotional? Is it just me? Its explicit and everything it should be but its never elicited much emotion from me. No idea why.

H had a crush on the h from book 1. She’s with his brother now. The h and the H from book 1 used to date forever ago and now are just really close friends edit #2: we got a title and a release date 😍 feb 21 pls come sooner 🥲🥲🥲😍😍😍 i actually want this book now now now! Lucian and Sloane. Yeah. They get their own bullet. OMG THE TENSION 🔥 was just as 😮‍💨 as that of Lina and Nash! 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻. Not me looking forward to seeing side characters that haven't gotten their book yet👀. JEEEZUS... I know that their book is going to be 🔥🔥. I couldn’t help but highlight some of their interactions. It’s going to be LITTTTT (yeah. I know. It’s a trite expression, but I don’t care 🤷🏻‍♀️🤣)Angelina Solavita, thirty-seven, doesn’t do relationships. Friends are too much trouble, too. She is definitely not a hugger. She is strong and independent, and she wouldn’t have it any other way. She enjoys five-mile runs and takeout. She also has an eye for fashion, plenty of makeup, and a closet filled with shoes. She loves fast cars, excitement, and the thrill of an adrenaline rush. Working for Pritzger Insurance has her on the road a lot, but she has nothing to tie her down. Sure the motels get old, but the occasional fling keeps things interesting.

And there was only a very tiny third act break up--as in it lasted like two minutes for them before they make up!! Hallelujah rejoice. So neither one did anything extremely stupid to cause some massive issue. Its so nice to read books where there aren’t ten chapters devoted to a breakup you know is going to get resolved and is just difficult to read. This book doesn't have that, and its amazing. I’m so excited to see that we are getting a Lucian and Sloane book next! I’ve been hoping we would get their story and enemies to lovers is my jam. It comes out later this year so no long wait! Yay! Also, I got to meet Lucy Score at my local book store (Joseph Beth-Cincinnati) which was amazing so here’s a fun picture :) On a list of anticipated releases, Lucy Score is always high on the list, and in 2023, I’m sure all of us have been waiting for Things We Hide From The Light. Thankfully, we don’t have to wait much longer for the release as it’s finally release day. like i said above, i wasn't sure how i was going to feel about this book but i seriously loved it just as much twngo. the pacing was perfect. their relationship was super angsty so we got so much tension and 'will they, won't they' and when they did get together, we got some suspense like we did in knox & naomi's book. We stared each other down, willing the other to break first. These were the kinds of social situation I excelled in. Making small talk about girly things? Nope. But going head-to-head with a cagey man when there was important information on the line? This was my Olympics and I was a goddamn gold medalist.”

Nash and Lina were so fun together. Their book was full of banter, excitement, and suspense. It also had some emotion and I loved seeing Nash open up to Lina. It took me a bit to connect to them as a couple, but once I did I was a goner for them! And that bonus epilogue was epic! Nash. This MAN! This vulnerable, sweet, simping, infuriating, stubborn, pain in the ass man! I love him. He is so perfect for Lina. I loved how the story showed him dealing with PTSD and how he comes to terms with his past. And the dog!!!! The romance is so, so good. That epilogue was EVERYTHING! Yes, I totally cried! i love twngo, it’s one of my favorites but this one wasn’t it for me sadly and this was one of my most anticipated reads. tears. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 i came here for the luciansloane crumbs and i was not disappointed at all, especially after that bonus epilogue!!! I enjoyed it, but not as much as TWNGO. TWHFTL has a very different feel to it, mostly because Nash is dealing with PTSD and depression after what happened at the end of book 1. Most of this book is Nash dealing with the aftermath, all while lusting over his new neighbor, Lina. He adopts the most adorable dog named Piper to help with his mental health, who I loved SO much. I love reading about dogs who have big personalities in books! Worse, Nash praises truth and honesty above everything else while Lina is hiding something that will have him furious once discovered. Whenever you’re close, everything is better. The closer you are, the easier I breathe … You take away the dark, the cold. And you remind me what it’s like to want to be here.”He bared his teeth and I wondered if I imagined the low, dangerous growl. “You just keep pushing my buttons.” “And you just keep pissing me off.” such a cute small town romance! This is my third Lucy Score book and I loveeee her writing style! She writes such great/fun/quirky side characters, always has great side plots outside the romance, and actually makes me laugh at moments throughout the book.
