About this deal

The landscape of today’s Hyde Park remains much as it has been since Queen Caroline’s innovative relandscaping. Hyde Park in the 1800s Hyde Park’s facilities are open to everyone, at any level, and it’s pay and play. We recommend booking ahead as they are a popular destination. Ready to play? Make a booking with Park Sports here. Riding in Hyde Park This classical stone gateway with its scroll-topped columns was designed by Decimus Burton, then just 25 years old. It was made from Portland stone and built in 1826-29.

This unique memorial to Diana, Princess of Wales was opened by Her Majesty The Queen on 6th July 2004. The Holocaust Memorial is a garden of boulders surrounded by white-stemmed birch trees, located to the east of The Dell. It was Britain's first memorial to the victims of the Holocaust. With many outdoor pools offering sunbathing terraces and continental style cafes, British lidos have enjoyed a resurgence in recent years. Following their heyday during the 1920s, a number of art deco buildings have been restored and re-opened to the public, enabling another generation to enjoy the pleasures of open air swimming. This is how Kate first meets Rosemary, when she goes to the lido to interview her for the story, and Rosemary agrees providing Kate, who claims she can’t swim, swims in the lido. She will never understand the importance of this place unless she can see it for herself. Our cafés – the Serpentine Bar & Kitchen, the Serpentine Lido Café, the Park Sports Café, and The Lodge Café at Hyde Park Corner – all serve delicious and sustainably prepared hot and cold food with vegan, vegetarian, and other dietary options. Every venue has outdoor and indoor seating, so no matter the weather, you can eat and drink in comfort. This is a very touching story about an 87-year old woman named Rosemary who lives in the Village of Brixton in England. The story is about change and losing places that matter in people's lives so some corporation can get richer. It's hard to let go of our history. It's also about people coming together to make a difference and, most importantly, about hope. This is a book that will make you feel better after you've read. I definitely recommend it. Rosemary was a librarian who met George at the lido and fell in love. He was a green grocer and they pretty much lived their life very sheltered, never straying far from their neighborhood except for their visit to the ocean on their honeymoon. Rosemary touched the lives of many during her eighty seven years, always a kind word to everyone, an encouraging word to a child just learning to swim. George apparently also taught at the pool including children’s lessons, they were not fortunate to have children of their own. A joyous feel-good debut novel about community, friendship and outdoor swimming. Perfect for fans of Joanna Cannon’s The Trouble with Goats and Sheep and Gail Honeyman’s Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine. What a delightful summer read. This book was recommended to me by a workmate and she seems to know what I will like.

A sense of loneliness pervades the novel. Insecurities, stress, and anxiety, emotions we all experience at some point in our lives, bring Kate and Rosemary together. They may each be lonely in their own way, but that loneliness connects them and, along with their love of swimming, it helps them both overcome their difficulties and re emerge into society.

A development company has sets their sights on the Lido and so Kate is assigned to write a piece for the paper. She meets Rosemary and their friendship blossoms almost instantly. Both women are transformed by their friendship and together they rally to "SAVE THE LIDO" while simultaneously building learning the value of community and overall it is never too late to make a friend or a difference💕
