About this deal

My Dual, Thorens, Nakamichi, B&W, REL, Denon equipment still works very well, some of it after 35 years and if it needs a new drive belt etc I can buy one for a few pounds or have the equipment repaired, (although I've never had too) If one of the connected apps - e.g. Spotify, Deezer, Tune-in,etc. change anything to the way you connect/stream from their services that requires an update to the Sonos app/device, you won't get it and this service could stop working - which is an unquantifiable risk. Once you’ve connected your chosen speakers to the Amp, it’s worth delving into the EQ menu in the settings and experimenting with the Loudness feature, which is switched on by default. The headphones are thought to have an over-ear design with oval ear cups. Though another patent showed a wireless earbud design, so Sonos could be readying more than one pair. The iPad app is easy to use and one of the best ways to experience the Sonos system. Sarah Tew/CBS Interactive

Setting the ZonePlayer S5 up is simplicity itself, whether you’re already a Sonos user or not. If you already have a Sonos install you just put the ZP-S5 into discoverable mode, and then search for a new zone using your Sonos controller, or PC client. A few seconds later the ZP-S5 will be added to your list of Zones and you’re ready to go. Setup was extremely simple. Just plug the power into the ZP 90, attach a network cable between at least one ZP 90 and your router, and plug in your sound system via any one of the input ports listed above. It took all of a few seconds. If you have more than one ZP 90, the steps are the same as above, minus the hard wire router connection -- WiFi only, baby! ZonePlayer 120 The speaker is able to use Wi-Fi independently or itself or a Boost via Ethernet to run SonosNet, a peer-to-peer mesh network which allows the user to play media on some, one or all speakers connected to the network. [8] It also can establish a stereo pair with another Play:5 to create a separate left and right audio channel [11] and can pair additionally with a Playbar or SUB to create a home theater system. If you are on the S2 app and the Play 5 is a Gen 2 you should be able to do a Factory Reset (as you would when selling a Sonos) and then add it to your other Sonos on the S2 controller as a new Sonos. I already have 2 Play 1s and a Play 3 on my system but note I have to use the old Sonos app to manage the Zoneplayer S5.The company has killed the product - DO NOT BUYIn the interests of balance: (with thanks to bigboss) a b Souppouris, Aaron (29 October 2015). "Sonos Play:5 review (2015): A generational leap forward". Engadget . Retrieved 4 November 2016– via AOL. The Connect (left) and the Connect:Amp both feature volume controls on the front. Sarah Tew/CBS Interactive The Sonos Connect brings the Sonos ecosystem to users who don't want a standalone speaker system. Setup is incredibly easy, and the software apps are effortless. Sound quality is good, and the digital output means it can be even better. The analog input means the system can stream analog components around your house.

The good news is that the Sonos Trade Up programme still exists, and customers who own eligible older 'legacy' products can get the same discount, but they are no longer required to needlessly render usable speakers inoperable. Carnoy, David (28 October 2016). "Sonos Play:5 (2015) review". CNET . Retrieved 4 November 2016– via CBS Interactive. The third component in the Sonos line is the ZP120, which is a simple integrated amplifier that uses a Class D output section. It has one pair of stereo power outputs that delivers 55 watts RMS per channel and a line-level mono output for a powered subwoofer. Like the ZP90, it has one analog stereo input and a pair of Ethernet connectors. Operating systems (for stored files): Windows XP SP2 or higher, Windows Vista™ Mac OS X v10.4 and v10.5 NAS (Network Attached Storage) devices supporting CIFS.In terms of ergonomics, much as I like the Duet’s remote control and menu design, if you plan to do a multi-room system the Sonos controller and the Sonos system’s ability to share sources between ZonePlayers makes it a far more elegant solution. The Sonos system is also easier to set up and much simpler to expand. Finally, each Sonos ZonePlayer can support an independent NAS hard drive, so you can access multiple libraries of digital music. You can’t do with the Logitech Duet. The ability to add surround speakers to the Amp is very appealing, but it is worth mentioning that it’s highly unlikely your chosen front speakers will blend seamlessly with the surrounds, and that can make for a slightly disjointed surround field.

In the app, you can assign each speaker to a room of your house, programme it so the volume can be controlled via your TV's standard remote, and add your favourite streaming services. You'll also have access to a wealth of internet radio stations on each unit as well as streaming services from the likes of Napster and Deezer, provided one ZonePlayer S5 is connected to your router. Just connect to mains power and use the free Sonos Controller App on an iPhone or iPod Touch (not supplied) to access your iTunes music library and play your tunes.

Of course, the Amp also has all of the music streaming skills of every other Sonos device, so gives you access to music from practically every service under the Sun, and allows you to combine it with your own digitally stored tunes in on-the-go queues. When Sonos first agreed to send me a system for review I didn’t specifically request a ZP120 ZonePlayer. I was far more interested in the ZP90 as a music server for my home theater. But once I had a ZP120 in my home I was won over by its undeniable charms. For many audiophiles who need a simple way to add music to their bedroom, kitchen, or sunporch, the ZP120 ZonePlayer is perfect. Not only does the ZP120 sound as good as any integrated amplifier in its price range; it also delivers an exceptional level of ergonomic style. This set-up process runs through a series of test tones and sweeps, which will be familiar to anyone who has set up an AV receiver. The process tunes your speaker to the room, adjusting the bass and the treble to get it sounding the best it can. I have my Play 1s and Play 3 on the Sonos S2 Controller. I currently have the Play 5 (Gen 1) on the S1 Controller.
