Before using the pulley lifts to by-pass the gate, go up the massive flight of stairs and find the journal near the two ghosts on a box. Firstly, locate the key to the Silver Blade. This is found within the room with the pulley puzzles where you raise platforms to reach higher levels. The Key is hidden inside the mouth of a secret red lit tunnel. I don’t recommend finding journals on your first play through of a Tale, as you may have to sail out of your way and distract from the adventure and story!

You have to get all fish, meat and treacherous loot commendations to grade 5. This involves: Seeker of Pirate Plunder:"You uncovered valuable treasures buried by other pirate crews."This commendations is awarded for uncovering 25 treasures from the maps available on the map quest board at Outposts. A Pirate's Life:"Complete 'A Pirate's Life'." -Mist and Memory:"Complete all Commendations for 'A Pirate's Life'."Complete the 'A Pirate's Life' Tall Tale and collect all 10 journals, as well as complete the side quest. Found after raising the water to the highest point while ascending the puzzle room. Swim into an alcove to find the journal. (Only accessible after flooding the room).
