About this deal

The overall shape and construction of the mouse seems well considered; the materials used provide a good amount of grip in all the right areas and the shape is ergonomic without being too wide. General Use Above: Some decent AWP kills with the G700S. Warning, music is super loud and the game is super casual. Intuitive shape and design: Individually sculpted buttons easily identifiable by touch; natural curves mean comfortable control. The right side is quite blank, with no buttons of any kind – just a grippy finish that makes it easier to scoot the mouse around rapidly without losing control.

Try on a different computer. Windows only — if it works on a different computer, then the issue might be related to a USB chipset driver. If you’re after laptop buying advice, I’m your man. I’ve been reviewing PCs and technology products for more than a decade. I cut my teeth in PC Labs, spending several years with PCMag.com before writing for other outlets, among them LaptopMag.com and Tom’s Guide. While computers are my main focus, I’ve also written at length about topics ranging from fitness gear and appliances to TV and home theater equipment. If I’ve used it, I have opinions about it, whether somebody’s paying me to write them up or not. Advanced surface materials : Advanced materials to each zone; hydrophobic coating on the palm area, fingerprint-resistant coating to the buttons, dry grip on the sides.Let’s unbox the G700S, shall we? We have a nice clean box to start, with the mouse presented in a kind of split view: one side regular, one side x-ray. It’s pretty cool, and of course the tagline ‘rechargeable gaming mouse’ pretty much says it all.

This change of mind return policy is in addition to, and does not affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law including any rights you may have in respect of faulty items. The mouse can be used while plugged in to a USB cable and recharging. I used to have a wireless mouse that couldn't be used while it was recharging and that one thing annoyed me so much I ended up replacing it after only a few months. However, the USB recharging cable can sometimes be a hassle (see first bullet in CONS below). Lets go over the functionality, pros, and the few cons and defects it has accumulated over its long life.

Battery life is mostly what everyone else says about this mouse. It comes with an Eneloop 1900mah AA rechargeable battery and I get about 2 days of battery life on this mouse. The nice thing about this is that if it's not good enough for you, you could get a high capacity battery or get multiple batteries and switch them whenever one dies. The battery life is good enough for me as I plug my mouse in every night and the cable is on my desk ready to be plugged in if it's low. A Unifying receiver looks like the image below, and it does not work with products that are not Unifying compatible. NOTE: Don't use the included USB extension cable with your G700s' USB cable. The G700s should be plugged directly into a USB port on your computer to minimize the amount of time required to charge. You can tell by looking at the pictures, 8 years can do some cosmetic damage. Notably, the metal trim of the scroll wheel seems slightly rusty (probably due to me removing the protective coating due to use), the bottom pads of the mouse are peeling slightly (this does not affect gliding on a mousepad, it is purely cosmetic), and most notably, the location where my thumb and pinky commonly are have been smoothed down and had their top-most layer of texturing removed. Despite the cosmetic damage, none of this has affected performance or feel, the feeling of the thumb and pinky location is smooth solid plastic (and I actually prefer this feeling!), and as noted before, gliding the mouse on a mousepad is still perfectly fine, although I wouldn't recommend using this mouse (or any mouse) without a mousepad. You have an option to use wired. The battery adds a lot of weight to the mouse making it significantly heavier than most gaming mice. Doesn't really slow me down but if that is going to slow you down, you can pull out the battery and use it wired with a micro USB cable.

Logitech G703 LIGHTSPEED Wireless Gaming Mouse - HERO - UK

It's a wireless mouse, so it inherently contains some of the problems with a wireless mouse. Most critically, it may die in the middle of use, which I have discussed before. But hey, you're looking to get into buying a wireless mouse, so you knew that already, right? This may be a manufacturing defect on my particular mouse only, but I've noticed that the scroll wheel is a little loose when it comes to moving it left and right. This makes it slightly awkward to push the scroll wheel left and right. Otherwise, all buttons function perfectly, and the laser is still functional and without error after 8 years. There is a possibility of dust/crumbs getting into the opening for the laser, but these are easily cleaned with a cotton swab or blast of compressed air. The dpi settings let you set the dpi into 5 different notches. These notches are set from lowest to highest and you can set the dpi for each notch. When you change the dpi on the mouse it will go up and down these notches or cycle through them depending on how your mouse is set up. You can set different dpi notches for different profiles which can be useful for people who game a lot with this mouse. That is about everything I have to say in praise about this mouse, now lets see what problems have occurred due to its ancient age and my poor keeping of it when I was a kid. (Although, some of this can be praise too!) Only the two extra thumb buttons are really of any use then, and these felt unnatural to use. The way that you can set the scrollwheel to free-wheel or have stepped scrolling is handy, though is a feature present in many current Logitech mice. Look for your device and expand it. You are looking for the name of the device, for example, Logitech Pro X Gaming Headset, or Logitech G560 Gaming Speaker.

The mouse is a little heavier than a purely wired option, thanks to the internal battery and radios and so forth. This makes the mouse require more effort to push around, particularly at low sensitivity settings, but isn’t too draining. Lifting the mouse is also a little harder, and as such better the mouse better suits gamers who use higher sensitivity settings. Furthermore, if you attempt to use the mouse while it is plugged in, be prepared for your mouse to suddenly stop working, it seems the connection while recharging sometimes shuts off the mouse for a half-second to a second. I can not confirm if this is a problem with the mouse from the start (I can't remember!), or if this is a defect due to age/wear, but this is certainly the case for me. That's it for cons, though! Unlike literally every other wireless mouse on the market, there is almost no latency over wireless. There is actually even less latency than most wired mice. It performs the same when used wired which I should probably mention,But the most versatile aspect of the G700s is the optional wired charging cable. Plug it in, and the wireless mouse is suddenly a wired mouse, without so much as a hiccup—no waiting for drivers to install, no loss of data, no change in profiles. Plug it in, and you're good to keep playing exactly as you were. And it's not just a data connection, it's also a charging cable, letting you keep the battery juiced up without having to stop playing. Unlike the wireless Razer Naga , the Logitech G700s has no separate charging cradle. Wireless mice are great for general purpose work, as they leave less clutter on your desk and having pixel-perfect accuracy or rapid sweeps isn’t required. The G700S unsurprisingly shines for web and media use then, with a comfortable fit, decent software for setting up macros and a long battery life (I got around 8 hours of continuous use before a recharge was needed). Yea, it's wireless! I've had odd locations for my computer setup over the years, and having a good wireless mouse has helped it a lot to not have a wired mouse get tangled with all the other stuff that needs to be wired. It is also worth noting that the connection to the computer is via a wireless USB-A port, which can also be stored inside the mouse's battery location for easy transport. The battery life on the mouse is relatively short. Using the battery that came with the mouse, it only takes around four hours of use in "Normal Gaming Mode" power settings at 250 updates/second to go from fully charged to a red indicator LED, which according to the manual means very low power level. Using 2000 mAh rechargeable NiMH Duracell AA batteries yields similar results. That being said, I've never had the mouse just die on me while gaming, and I've noticed that it can operate while reporting that very low power red LED for a good while (at least an hour). I'm not sure if the mouse automatically switches to a power-saving mode in that situation or if Logitech was just very conservative when defining their very low power limits. In any case I usually just recharge my mouse overnight (it doesn't need that long to fully recharge - I just find it to be a convenient time to do it) and it's good to go for at least the next day. The hydrophobic coating not only works, it works well. I wet my finger under the faucet (not with the way you think if you are perverted) and most of it slid right down the side but not all of it. I did get my finger really wet (again, not the way you think) so I am still impressed. The rest came right off with one wipe of a paper towel (on the mouse, not where you think if you are at it again)
