About this deal

Happy Valley won’t be released as a box set, but will be shown weekly at the same time on Sundays, for a total of six episodes. The police based BBC drama has earnt itself an army of fans who couldn't contain their excitement as no-nonsense police Sergeant Catherine Cawood, played by ex-Coronation Street star Sarah Lancashire, returned to our screens once more. The two vital things are that Ryan Cawood, (played by Rhys Connah), is now at an age to make his own decisions about his life and the relationship he has in it, and Catherine’s (Sarah Lancashire) is on the brink of retirement, and those felt like such juicy things to explore.”

There are also a number of new faces including Amit Shah as the troubled pharmacist, Faisal Bhatti, that has got himself in too deep, Mark Stanley as abusive teacher and husband, Rob Hepworth, and Mollie Winnard as Rob Hepworth's desperate wife, Joanna Hepworth, who was brutally murdered in the last episode after bribing Faisal to help her escape her cruel and controlling husband.

Although the show is well written, its main selling point is that it revolves around two standout performances. As Norman, Freddie Highmore does a terrific job of foreshadowing the monster he will eventually become (taxidermy, anyone?) while remaining sweet and sympathetic throughout. He brings a classmate flowers when her father ends up in hospital, but he is also becoming aware that there is something wrong with him. "Sometimes you hear and you see things that aren't there," explains Norma. "It's like some kind of trance or something." Happy Valley fans were delighted when the hugely anticipated third and final series returned to our screens on New Years Day after an almost seven year hiatus.

Returning for a third series, Happy Valley Season 3 premiered in Australia on Monday, 2nd January 2023. Foxtel and Foxtel Now have been confirmed to air the new season via BBC First, as well as BINGE. BritBox is likely to launch new episodes of the TV series as well, but the premiere date has yet to be confirmed. Just like seasons 1 and 2, the new season consists of six episodes, concluding on 6th February 2023. Happy Valley Season 3 There are SIX episodes in Happy Valley's third and final series, airing on Sunday nights at 9pm on BBC One for the next few weeks. PC Ann Gallagher (Charlie Murphy) has landed a six-month attachment to CID. Is she heading for another showdown with her kidnapper and rapist Royce? The BAFTA-winning show starring Sarah Lancashire sees police sergeant Catherine discover the remains of a gangland murder victim in an empty reservoir. We’re really not doing any more. You’re a few weeks away from the ending but when you get to it, I really hope you’ll feel content that if that’s the last you ever see of the characters of Happy Valley, it was a big way to go out.”

And with the drama building many will be wondering when the nail biting storylines will come to a head. The fourth episode of Happy Valley series three will air on Sunday evening, January, 22 at 9pm but how many episodes are left and when does the finale air? How many episodes of Happy Valley are there? What sounds like a standard crime drama is elevated by Wainwright's refusal to paint characters in easy and recognisable colours. When his request for a payrise is turned down, accountant Kevin Weatherill (Steve Pemberton) hatches a plan to kidnap his boss's daughter, with the help of a group of local villains, including Royce. Cawood, played with steely obsession by Lancashire, clearly equates the kidnapped girl with her own daughter: she lost one, she's not going to lose another. Ryan’s latest catchphrase, “Revenge is a dish best served cold”, acquired new resonance now that Catherine knew who he had been visiting. Cut to Tommy in his cell, smirking and scheming. He might soon be up in court for another murder but Royce chillingly “forgave” the prison chaplain who had informed on him. Besides, he had other matters in mind – namely, staging a scuffle in the canteen to distract guards so he could surreptitiously take a smuggled phone. My girlfriend saw me with my top off for first time in 8 years after dramatic weight loss' says Wakefield man

Procedural crime thriller series Happy Valley is returning for a third and final season, the BBC has confirmed, six years on from the release of the show's second series. The new six-part series will see the return of the show's major cast members, including Sarah Lancashire and James Norton and is set to be the finale season of the award-winning crime drama. The release date for season three has now been confirmed and we don't have long to wait! Here's everything else we know about Happy Valley season three. The first episode aired on Sunday 1 January on BBC One at 9pm and will now be available to watch on BBC iPlayer. Sadly, this will be the third and final series of Happy Valley, according to the creators. Executive producer Will Johnston said the series creator Sally Wainwright and star Sarah Lancashire had agreed it “would only return once more”. As TV writer Sally Wainwright was born in Huddersfield and brought up in Sowerby Bridge, it is perhaps unsurprising that Happy Valley is set in Yorkshire. The majority of the BBC show, which first aired in 2014, was filmed in Calder Valley which encompasses picturesque and charming towns such as Todmorden, Hebden Bridge and Sowerby Bridge. Still, their messed-up goings-on are fascinating to watch, especially when the balance is upset by the arrival of Norman's older half-brother, Dylan, an edgy bad boy who finds work in the town's criminal underbelly – though he is also the one who tries to steer Norman towards normality.

The show’s creator Sally Wainwright was born in Huddersfield and raised in Sowerby Bridge in Calderdale, which might explain the setting.
