About this deal

Now he has written his first children’s book, Eddie Albert And The Amazing Animal Gang, centring on a shy 10-year-old boy who can talk to animals, rather like a miniature Doctor Dolittle, and embarks on an adventure in Amsterdam with his dog Butch. I also love this book because it’s very adventurous and mysterious and it’s about animals which I love. The animal names are very cute and my favourite animal is the dog Butch.

Book Review: Eddie Albert and the Amazing Animal Gang Kid’s Book Review: Eddie Albert and the Amazing Animal Gang

My favourite part is when Eddie meets a parrot and the parrot rips the hair off a mean woman called Vera. It was so funny. All of the bits with him talking to the animals are funny and I think it would be cool to be able to have a chat with animals.... Eddie Albert and the Amazing Animal Gang: The Amsterdam ‎Eddie Albert and the Amazing Animal Gang: The Amsterdam

A boy called Eddie can somehow talk to and heal animals. He ends up staying with his Auntie in Amsterdam with his pet dog, two hamsters and two goldfish! They have to rescue an orangutan and it all gets a bit wild! The trio embark on a comic crime-fighting adventure across the city, with Eddie’s chatty creatures in tow. Will their race against time pay off as they try to stop evil villainess Vera Van Loon from doing something truly awful to an orangutan? Gulp! Shy misfit Eddie Albert tries his best not to stand out, even though he has a spectacular secret – he can talk to animals! But when the scruffy ten-year-old is sent to Amsterdam to stay with his eccentric Aunt Budge, he discovers she shares his gift too! She helps Eddie come out of his shell and he soon befriends Flo, the girl next door. I love animals and have watched some of Paul O'Grady's programmes so I was excited when I saw this book by him. It's a great story about a boy called Eddie who can talk to animals. He has a dog who he can talk to and along with his other pets, they get into an adventure which is funny and gripping at the same time. There is a villain in the book who Eddie and his Aunt have to defeat and it's great that there are plenty of laughs as well as a brilliant storyline. I really wanted to keep reading to find out what happened next and couldn't put the book down! You will love this book if you love animals and enjoy a good adventure story, along with comedy.... Read Full ReviewMy favourite chapter was at Vera’s party because of the people that were there and the description of the paintings. I do sympathise with teenage boys and girls in this day and age. We didn’t have the pressure of social media. We didn’t have the pressure of the body beautiful or the fabulous teeth. It wasn’t a competition. It was a different era.
