About this deal

What she does is care and try to stop people from getting hurt. Even when people treat her like crap and betray her in the worst possible way. Even when they don’t deserve her friendship or compassion. Even when they keep pushing her away, she’s there waving her olive branch and letting them know she’ll always be there for them, no matter what." When we write about a setting, most authors will do so visually and that’s absolutely needed. But a setting is truly brought to life when we use the other senses because the combination of senses are what really transports the readers into our world. Another Jessica Redland, and another story filled with emotions. This had quite a few challenges for the main character Elise who really had to jump through the hoops for her HEA.

Christmas is significant because behind closed doors, it reminds her of a terrible tragedy that meant she was removed from her home and after being moved from foster home after foster home she finally finds her place. A couple who have let her in and care about her. The couple have a biological child who is the perfect big sister or is she?Jessica’s second publishing contract will see new stories from the fictional Whitsborough Bay, modelled on her hometown with inspiration from Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay, and the Hedgehog Hollow series, which is set in the idyllic Yorkshire Wolds and surrounding areas. It's also very nice to reconnect with a few characters from other books. When Boldwood Books formed in 2019, contemporary fiction writer Jessica was one of the first 20 authors to join and has since sold over 200,000 copies globally of her eight books released with the company.

Easily Jessica Redland's best novel so far. The amount of heart and depth that has gone into it is astounding.' Elise had it all, family and friends. Then came reality. She discovered the truth about her husband, then had to deal with her broken dreams, a short lived affair, and a crush, and long stand-standing friendships. A secret was also on the way. Danniella is running from her past, so when she arrives at the beautiful seaside resort of Whitsborough Bay, the last thing on her mind is making friends. After all, they might find out her secrets…I loved the sense of humour in the writing, and the complicated situation Elise manoevered herself into. At one point you need to try and keep up with who knows what and why , about a secret. Tara has had just a difficult past, and she has until this year, in this book kept it a secret from everyone in Whitsborough Bay, but Christmas is the catalyst for many things and she is finally ready to start telling her story to best friend Carly. This was one the most fabulous books read during the Christmas season. I absolutely, totally, completely loved it. The reason was pretty simple

She is a lovely and caring person, always puts herself last and has a family tragedy in her past and her partner is someone she has hung onto and the only family she knows. The trouble is she is covering behind a facade, she has body confidence issues, with a partner who calls her a chubba but the one thing she needs is a friend. If you’ve ever read any of the Harry Potter books, the Lord of the Rings series, or The Chronicles of Narnia you’ll understand what this means because Rowling, Tolkien and Lewis all create settings that are as memorable as the characters and plots. Some might argue that it’s easier to create a strong setting in a fantasy book because the author is creating a new and unfamiliar world and therefore needs to help their readers visualise it. I beg to differ. For me, the Yorkshire Dales are just as much a character in the James Herriot books as the human and animal characters, and the Dales are not a figment of the author’s imagination. So when her Auntie Kay unexpectedly offers her the opportunity to take over her flower shop, Seaside Blooms, the timing could not be more perfect. She could escape to the beautiful seaside town of Whitsborough Bay, start a new chapter in her life – and learn how to run a business! Wow, this was not your typical relationship to have to get over. High school sweethearts and then twelve years of marriage. That's a long time. And he's the one and only guy you've ever, ever dated?Sam thinks he has his future all worked out. A thriving career, lovely home and an amazing fiancée. But when tragedy strikes, he finds himself alone, far from everyone he cares about. Did he do the right thing by running away and trying to rebuild the tatters of his life alone? Emerging from an unhappy relationship, Tori finds herself with nowhere to stay and nobody to talk to. The long-hidden secrets of her past weigh heavily on her until a chance encounter with Finley, struggling to come to terms with his own secrets, provides an opportunity to open up. Elise gets the surprise of her life when she arrives home early and catches her husband up to no good. Not only is he up to no good, but he has been living a lie for his whole life. Obviously the marriage is pretty much over at this point, and its up to Elise to get over her soon to be ex husband Gary. Goodness, this is such an odd book. I feel like it wants to be women's fiction or maybe romance, and there are certainly elements of that. And 'light,' but it's definitely not that! I also added a 'horror' tag because Tara/Tamara's treatment by her sister is in the realm of horror. If you have never read one of her books, maybe now is a good start. You could always ask Santa to bring you one (or more).
