About this deal

Space is a great theme to cover in lessons and playtime as it's so mysterious and exciting for young children to explore. That is one of my favorite poems in the collection as well. I think it's one that sometimes when I read it I hear a little bit more of the skepticism when Nemerov writes, "What was lost for this new world of engine and energy." But in the ending I really love that the turn to the unknowingness that I think you could read that as skeptical but for me I read it as possibility. We don't know the world completely and we don't know what the future holds but in a sense, that's what opens up new things that we haven't fully thought through yet and that really paves the way for discovery. Wait, there's more... For an adventure of galactic proportions, blast off in search of The Lost Astronaut! Join the Stardust crew on a journey through the stars in a puzzle book that's filled with galaxy of fun. We haven't yet sent poets into space, but this collection is the next best thing. Around the world and throughout history, the mystery and romance of space have inspired reflections on the universe and ourselves. The poets represented in this book are stimulating guides on a memorable journey through the cosmos.’

It matters not that their reason approve or scoff, and, upright on its high walls, hold out to them, along the quays and harbours, its bright torches; they are the travellers from beyond the sea. Happy and serene, they believe eagerly; their soul is the deep and sudden brightness with which they burn the summit of the loftiest problems; and to know the world, they but scrutinize themselves.

Space has long been a source of inspiration for poets, offering a canvas to explore the mysteries of the universe. Here are some of the best space poems. 1. Around the Sun Acrostic – An acrostic poem is one in which a word or phrase is spelled out vertically using a letter from each line. Typically, an acrostic will use the first letter of each line to spell a vertical word or phrase. More advanced acrostics use the last letter of each line or a letter in the middle of the line to spell the vertical word or phrase. Right from the start, when two got ahold of me and I think it was last spring and mentioned that the book was going to be published. It is out now as people hear this, it has been available from all the usual sources published by the University of Arizona Press, so only about a week ago as people begin to hear this show. I think you wondered, gee is this something he'd want to do? And not only did I want to do it but I immediately thought, oh, we have to read some of these poems. And that of course led to, we need to get a whole bunch of space celebrities to read some of these poems and that's exactly what we've done. It fell to me to pull those together but you had to do all the heavy lifting of pulling together the wonderful poems in this collection, I do highly recommend it. That silence is the thing, this noise a found word for it; interjection, a jump of the breath at that silence; Blast off into the unknown and discover a galaxy of poems with Pie Corbett... The Rubbish Tip Alien

Thank you, Matt. Let's move on to the trivia contest. And I asked you what three Apollo spacecraft call signs were later used as the names of space shuttle orbiters. How'd you do it? It is qualities like this which make the poetry of Richard Aldington worthy of closer attention than it has often received – this is a fine example of his imagist mode.I love that. I think that would be great. Let's get the vaccine, let's go get past COVID and have a spring on earth again be how spring on earth is supposed to be and we'll do it.
