Bake for approximately 15 minutes at 180C/350F until the biscuits are done. The biscuits will be soft when they come out of the oven, but they should crisp and harden on cooling (image 2 above). I do recall that, often, I would pull the biscuits apart and enjoy the filling before devouring the biscuits. Of course, being an adult, I would never do that now :). The recipe Try to get the size of the dough as equal as possible, you could weigh them. This is so that the biscuits will bake in the oven at the same time.I just love, love, LOVE the traditional recipes of the UK. All those years I spent ensconced in Enid Blyton books, drooling and dreaming over what sounded like exotic foods . . . well, those dreams and imaginations have come true for me since I arrived in the UK.

The end result should be a creamy mixture of butter and dissolved sugar (image 1 above). I searched all over the internet and at any possible store. But there was not even a glimpse of them. Then I found out that McVities no longer makes Gypsy cream.

Place the small balls on a baking tray, leaving enough space between each for them to spread as they bake. Bake for 12-14 minutes or until golden. If you find some of your biscuits turned out larger than expected, just spread chocolate on one side and let it set. They are just as delicious served single as they are doubled-up. Take small portions of the mixture and shape into rough balls with your hands. Each should weigh approx. 25g. Place the dough balls on a plate and freeze for 1 hour. from time to time, that I believe could be one of the reasons behind Corrie losing out on ALL the BIG soap awards worth having to the likes of EastEnders.Seven: Spread a thin later of buttercream over the flat base of half of the biscuits and sandwich together with another oat biscuit (so both flat bottoms of the biscuits are touching the buttercream). So if you don’t know what are Gypsy creams or you haven’t got a chance to eat them. Let me introduce them to you Clearly, there may be a link to Romany (which is how we also came across the Romany Biscuits), but we can’t find out exactly why. We considered renaming them to be Oat Cream Biscuits or Oat Sandwich Biscuits, but no one would know what we are talking about, so we’ve kept it for now!
