About this deal

But what I don't love is the price. No way under heaven given among men am I spending that kind of money on a fragrance. To me, It's more freshie than gourmand...wasn't counting on that, but hey...it still smells fabulous!

I'm posting this review to be informative for those looking at Kismet as an alternative to Rochas Moustache EDP. The tuberose note is reminiscent of salted meat and heavy cream, especially the moment when ghee (clarified butter) mixes with pork; it’s gourmand in the most unconventional way. A strange combination that is both attractive and repulsive to me. It’s like stepping into an Indian household after the owner had already prepared dinner and is now spraying air freshener to get rid of the scent. I was really excited with my buy until I returned home, got prepared for an outing and sprayed the fragrance on me. In the meantime, I couldn't find anywhere the smells of the other "Killians" that I had tested. Despite the rose note featuring prominently in Kismet's official scent pyramid, I honestly wouldn't classify this fragrance as a rose scent. The rose accord is very subtle and smells more like dried potpourri, which mind you works beautifully alongside the opoponax, patchouli and labdanum notes. Frankly I can understand the appeal with this brand and I can respect anyone who loves it, but unfortunately for me the tuberose made this perfume an unforgivable experience.

Frankly, I am really disappointed not to have found any value for money in this buy, because this perfume is absolutely overhyped. Anyways, I randomly tried this one and big, stupid smile froze on my face. Like people when they are desperately in love over heels. I mean, those two notes together are absolutely lovely...but nothing near what the note listing said for this fragrance. I'm guessing the "Vanilla" in it makes it as creamy smooth as it is. I guess I shouldn't complain because this is a completely dapper fragrance and I'm gonna wear the hell out of it, starting tomorrow morning, but yet again...I'm completely stumped as to what the actual fragrance notes for this TRULY are.

However, I do love osmanthus. I’ve even been eating fresh apricots hoping they will taste as good as an osmanthus perfume, lol. Not yet. I swoon over the osmanthus dry down in Serge Lutens Bapteme du Feu, and I just wish Nuit de Cellophane was longer-lasting.I found Kismet to be almost identical to Rochas Moustache EDP to the extent that it is most certainly a clone of that fragrance specifically as opposed to being a Tuxedo clone. Moustache & Kismet are as close to 1:1 that you can get in a fragrance.

It's such a wonderful, warm scent, at the same time super comfortable and wearable, and very complex and elegant. It's very much an oriental fragrance to my nose, which is a category that usually leaves me cold, but Kismet is exceptional in every sense. Opoponax and labdanum are prominent from the very start; at first they're joined by rather bitter citrus notes, which is nice, but the magic starts to happen a little later on when the vanilla joins the party. It settles down deliciously powdery and sweet, but in a balanced way - the resins make sure of that, and this combination is really a match made in heaven, and executed to perfection. This balanced character makes it very versatile as well; I can imagine wearing this in almost any situation and even any type of weather except high summer, and never getting tired of it. It also projects just right, and lasts all day. For me, it falls into the category of scents I could imagine having as a signature if I were still that kind of perfume wearer. I thought this was the most delicious, sweet, sexy, slightly animalic white / yellow floral and I knew i wanted a bigger bottle. I couldn't understand the people complaining it smelled like "spicy hot milk." The florals had some potential, was really disappointed that the drydown was more hairspray. It reminds me of those days of performing arts and they need to set your hair in place so they just spam your head with hair spray, and the room is left with that cloying artificial smell. Nope. The opening is a green, sweet and earthy mess. Not very pleasant yet you can tell that it will evolve in something very interesting. It's like grass, earth, nutmeg sweetness and patchouli. Smells like rotting vegetation with a sweet hint. Unique fragrances according to the side of your personality that you wish to enhance by emitting a particular scent. I find the main difference between the two is that Moustache has slightly more vanilla or better quality vanilla that makes it more noticeable. Its a really good, smooth fragrance for gentlemen. Versatile enough for casual wear AND formal wear but not necessarily a fougere or an aromatic and certainly not an ultra masculine scent. Instantly to me this scent evokes an image of visiting grandparents on a holiday like Easter or even 2nd day of Christmas or going to church wearing your sunday's best. Not because the notes are reminescent of the holidays i mentioned or of scents you might encounter at a church. Oh no no, not at all!. What i mean is those ocassions where you dress up nicely and make an extra effort to stay humble, polite and caring. It is not oldschool AT ALL but it reminds me of the carefree days of the past, when i was younger, on last day of school / highschool during the end-of-the-year festivities where we all wore uniforms or suits. Way before becoming burdened by adulthood's problems.

When I first tried Kismet I fell in love the same moment. I was in a store, searching for musky fragrances (it was (still is) my mission, to find the perfect musk- my favourite note. haven't found one yet) It's something that a lot of women, myself included, would be happy to wear everyday in warmer months. The price point requires true love for a committment, and while Good Girl Gone Bad is a beautifully blended floral, I also feel like it's too easy to replace with cheaper, probably nicer, equally performing fragrances. Evoked Dried-Tobacco-Leaf with VANILLA, VETIVER & PATCHOULI. In the first couple of minutes there's a burst of warm & fresh spices. As the sillage opens up, there's an evoked dried-tobacco-leaf note with plum-y/raisin-like nuances. All of the other notes are serving to support & enhance different facets of the evoked tobacco leaf. This has above average performance for a year-round wearing experience, but some people will become anosmic. After a few minutes the florals began to come out. It was another confusing moment as it was sour smelling florals with a tinge of hairspray, but when I sniff at my wrist it was much sweeter, mostly tuberose and jasmine (that I can discern anyway) I decided that I would give it a try this morning since I would be in a temp controlled environment all day. I still put down a base layer of "By the fireplace" and put about 4 spritzes of "Kismet" on top.
