About this deal

As an alternative to the standard 304 Grade Stainless Steel, we now have the option to offer the Defender® Wide Stainless Steel in Marine 316 Grade Stainless Steel. Due to the added Molybdenum, this steel is particularly corrosion resistant to sodium chloride which makes it able to withstand harsher environments such as exposed coastal areas. The Defender® Bird Spike range has a spike suitable for pigeons, seagulls and even small garden birds like sparrows. Deciding what bird your issue is caused by is the first step. We have a range of spikes for pigeons - these will stop pigeons and like sized birds. Our spikes for seagulls have taller pins to allow for the gulls longer legs. It is important to remember that they will also work for pigeons. We also have a spike for small birds - stopping small garden birds like sparrows and starlings but also the larger birds like pigeons and seagulls too. There are many scenarios where birds can cause problems, such as roosting on chimney pots, nesting under solar panels and sitting in gutters. We have a solution for all these issues and have created a visual guide to help you understand which products can be used where - this can be viewed here Not Sure What to Buy?. Step 3 - Positioning: Start at one end of the guttering and clip each piece firmly into position. Continue along the guttering making sure no gap is left between the ends of the pigeon spikes. This mechanism places the gutter strip in the centre of the gutter. It hovers above the base of the gutter, allowing for the free flow of rainwater beneath.

Step 1 - Clean the Area: Make sure the area you are installing on is clean, dry and has no loose dirt or debris, this applies particularly to areas that you may want to use the silicone. If the area below the aerial has been heavily soiled and you would like to clean it while up on the roof, you may need to read our "How to Safely Remove Bird Droppings Guide" A wide range of Bird Spikes for next day delivery. Bird spikes are an anti-perch device used to protect linear surfaces including ridge tiles, parapets, tv aerials, ledges, gutters, beams, pipes, signs, lights etc.

What is a Defender® TV Aerial Pack?

These spikes are designed for pigeons and like-sized birds. They are a great solution for areas where pigeons are roosting or perching. However, they can also be used in high-pressure areas where pigeons are trying to nest or sleep overnight. Where can I use wide plastic spikes? Defender® Wide Plastic Bird and Pigeon Spikes will protect a depth of ledge up to 15 cm (6 inches). They are great for all sorts of walls, beams and ledges around your property. If the ledge is wider, you can just add a second row of spikes, leaving as small a gap as possible between the tops of the pins. Alternatively, you may prefer to use our Extra Wide Stainless Steel Bird Spike that will protect ledges of up to 22.5 cm (9 inches) - Defender® 12 Stainless Steel Bird Spikes How do wide bird spikes work?

Defender® Pipe Spikes have 9 grooves along the base which can be easily snapped by hand to make a shorter length strip. The cable ties can then be simply relocated to the ends of the shorter piece, this ensures that any size pipe can be fully proofed against perching or roosting birds. Step 4 - Positioning: If the length of the pipe doesn’t fit the strip exactly, the Defender® Pipe Spike can be snapped to create smaller sections. You may need to reposition the cable tie further along the new shorter-length spike.Step 1 - Clean the Area: Make sure the area you are installing on is clean, dry, and has no loose dirt or debris. If a pigeon has already been nesting or roosting it may be heavily soiled with bird droppings. If this is the case please see our "How to safely clean bird droppings guide" guide for more in-depth details. All Defender® Bird and Pigeon Spikes are made in the UK using only the highest quality materials. Jones and Son Pest Control Supplies Ltd is a family-run business that prides itself on the manufacture of quality steel bird spikes and plastic pigeon spikes that will keep birds off your property, business or home. The Defender® Wide Plastic Pigeon Spike is made from super-tough Durolon UV Stabilised Polycarbonate. This ensures the spikes suffer no degradation due to the adverse effects of extreme weather. They do not yellow or become brittle and can withstand low and high temperatures. This bird control product comes with a 15-Year Warranty when installed in the UK. Another method is to use cable ties. Again make sure you have the correct length spike for the individual bar. Hold the strip in place above the bar and wrap the cable tie around the base and the bar. Feed the end through the fastener and pull tight until the spike base is held in place securely. One cable tie at each end should be sufficient. The ends of the cable tie can be cut short to neaten the appearance or left long.

All our Defender® Bird Spikes have snappable sections along the base and can easily be snapped using your fingers into smaller pieces. This helps when you finish a row or need to spike smaller or uneven areas. Defender® Wide Stainless Steel Bird Spikes - Key Info Which birds are the wide steel spikes suitable for? Step 3 – Fixing Methods: The Defender® Pipe Spike comes with cable ties already fixed to each end of the 333 mm strip so there is no need for glue. Sit the bird spike on the top of the pipe, wrap the cable tie around the pipe and pull through the end of the cable tie to fasten. Pull tight and it will hold the pigeon spike firm even on sloping exterior pipe work. The ends of the cable ties can be left in place or trimmed to create a neater appearance. The Defender® Thistle® is a very versatile spike and can be siliconed or screwed in place. It is suitable to use on ledges up to 9 cm (3.5 inches) in depth. If wider, two or more rows can be installed. It is the perfect solution for beams on a pergola or a narrow fence, and as it is only 62 mm high, it's very inconspicuous. How do plastic spikes for small birds work? The Defender® Narrow Stainless Steel Bird Prevention Spikes are made from 304 Grade steel wires which protrude from a super tough Durolon UV Stabilised Polycarbonate base. This hard-wearing bird spike will triumph in all weather conditions and comes with a 25 Year "No Rust” Warranty when installed in the UK. Some lower-quality spikes available on the market can rust in a matter of years or even months - but these superior Defender® Narrow Stainless Steel Bird Spikes will protect your for years to come. Made in the UK The Defender® Gutter Spike will fit all standard half-round or square plastic guttering or hoppers that do not have a lip or ornate design on the front edge. Step 1 - Clean the Area: Before starting any installation of seagulls spikes, it is essential that the area is clean, dry and free from droppings and debris. It is important to look up; it may be that the source of the mess is actually from ledges or pipes higher up on the building. If this is the case you will need to spike these as well. If this is not done, then droppings, twigs etc. may fall onto the seagull spikes below rendering them less effective. One of the prime spots pigeons, seagulls, or small birds will perch on is ledges and windowsills. The windowsill width varies from home to home; unfortunately, one size does not fit all. Firstly, establish the bird or birds causing the problem and then measure the width or length of the sill. Once you have this information, you can choose from the options below. The choices for window sills can be overwhelming; call us on 01626 835055 if you need help deciding which system suits your bird problem.
