One thing I will flag is something I’ve noticed in all Grenade’s more recent offerings – the slightly higher carb count. EVERY protein bar line has to have some variation on the classic fudge brownie flavour – it’s basically a right of passage at this point. Grenade have followed suit with the third of their Carb Killa flavours, so how does their offering work out? The orange flavour is just right with this one – it’s not artificial or bitter, and it doesn’t overpower the chocolate flavour. I would have liked something a little more different from the standard Carb Killa range than simply the addition of orange flavour – surely if you’re going to call something ‘Jaffa’ you need a jelly layer…

The strawberry layer adds a nice tang, but it’s not sharp like the raspberry layer in the Dark Chocolate Raspberry bar. Rather than balancing the sweetness, the tang almost emphasises it. Before we start, I will say it smells amazing – very strong strawberry and buttery (honestly) white chocolate. Sabrina Snyder is a professionally trained personal and private chef of over 10 years who is the creator and developer of all the recipes on Dinner, then Dessert. Make sure you remove as much of the crumbs from the Oreos as possible (this keeps the chocolate bark clean from crumbs). This bar features a peanut butter flavoured base topped with a gooey strawberry layer and spindled with peanut pieces, then coated in milk chocolate.

How to Make Oreo Bars:

If you want your Oreo Bark in perfect squares, place the blade of your knife in hot water for 30 seconds. Dry the blade well and place it against the bark to score the bark and let the heat of the blade melt a line into the bark. This will be an exercise in patience but it will make clean lines. To safely melt white chocolate chips without seizing the white chocolate use half power in your microwave and work in 30 second increments, stirring between every 30 seconds and stopping when just a few small pieces remain. An incredible flavour, decent macros and actual Oreo pieces – overall, the Grenade x Oreo bar is no less than a masterpiece. White Chocolate Oreo I will definitely be eating this on the regular, but it gets an 8.5 because in the end, it is just a chocolate crunch with orange flavouring… Birthday Cake 5/10 As usual, I have nothing bad to say about Grenade’s chocolate. It’s high quality, melts instantly and adds a delightful creaminess. It makes a nice change and it’s certainly better than the Chocolate Crunch the brand brought out a couple of years ago, but I’d go for the Fudge Brownie bar over this any day. Peanut Butter and Jelly – 9/10Appearance wise, it looks the same as the rest of the range, but with a nice looking dark chocolate coating, and there’s a strong smell of mint (duh) when you open it. Add dry ingredients and mix just until incorporated. Stir in Oreos and white chocolate chips. Press dough into pan. As usual, the chocolate is good quality and melts as soon as you take a bite. Plus the chocolate chips are a nice addition, making for a more interesting texture and intensifying the creamy cocoa flavour.
