About this deal

The ratio will be written as three numbers, for example: ‘NPK 6-5-10’. This fertiliser would be made up of 6 parts nitrogen, 5 parts phosphorous and 10 parts potassium. When using a liquid fertiliser, you want to make sure that it won’t get washed away before it has time to work. For this reason, liquid fertilisers can be better suited to summer rather than winter use – you’ll need a period without rain. One thing to note: if there’s no rain forecast, you’ll need to make sure to fully water in the fertiliser yourself. It takes a while, and a fair amount of water, for the granules to dissolve. It should ideally be applied between September and November, with a maximum of two applications per year.

Ensure the turf is healthy, weed, disease and pest free. This can be helped by fertilisation and regular maintenance. The typical sowing rate for our premium grass seed is 35g per m², however for a brand new lawn, we suggest 50g per m². For a light boost to improve your lawn or for small touch ups, we suggest just 25g per m² to achieve a healthier appearance. Grass Seed Quantity

Our recommendation for application is to start applying at 35g per sqm in mid-September and to continue this treatment every 6 to 8 weeks while the weather is colder. The best winter lawn fertilisers balance nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, providing the best ratio for grass to thrive. In a winter fertiliser, look for a high potassium content . This will help your grass grow stronger roots and stems ready to spring into action in the warmer months. If you have bare patches on the grass, and it’s coming up to winter, this is a good product to use to fill in the spaces and get a more even, balanced lawn without waiting until spring to fix the problem. Do not apply in windy conditions. Keep off skin and away from eyes. Avoid walking on treated areas until it has rained or product has been watered in. Sow the grass seed – Spread evenly by hand in small areas or use a seed spreader for larger areas, disperse evenly and not too close together, ideally 5-10mm deep in the soil.

Also, similarly to phosphorous, it helps plants grow a strong, extensive root system – very important for helping grass to endure the harsh conditions of winter. Contains added nitrogen for steady growth, phosphate and potash for even growth and with added magnesium and iron to green up your lawn. NPK: 12 – 3 – 9 + 0.5 Fe + 0.8 MgO A micro-granular formulation containing: Total Nitrogen (N)Overall, it’s one of the best winter lawn fertilisers to buy on a budget. You get a generous amount of product for the price, and it will be sufficient to cover the majority of small/medium gardens. Although you may not use such a large bag over one winter, the fertiliser can be kept for the following year as well. It needs to be kept well sealed in a cool, dry space. Granular fertilisers are applied dry and then watered into the soil. To apply a granular fertiliser properly, you should use a fertiliser spreader. These can either be simple handheld tools, or more complicated push-along/tow-along contraptions. Spreaders help ensure the correct distribution rate, which is a lot harder to calculate when spreading by hand. If spilt on paving, concrete etc., brush off immediately to avoid discolouration. If no rain falls within 48 hours of treatment, irrigate treated area. Complete Lawn, Feed Weed and Moss Killer is effective against broad-leaved weeds of the following species:
