About this deal

Following is our video review of the DC39 Animal. We walk through features, specifications and also run the machine through several key tests. The Dyson DC39 sports the familiar Dyson styling comprising a clear, plastic dust container and a purple grooved chassis along with the telltale ball. Not only does the ball replace conventional wheels for smoother steering, it also houses much of the cleaner's technological innards. The cyclones make up the innovative looking purple assembly atop the dust canister. There is a lot of marketing talk about the DC65 having “Radial” root cyclone technology as opposed to just root cyclone technology. As far as we can figure ‘Radial” simply means that airways have been remodelled to help improve flow efficiency and reduce turbulence. In theory this should provide better suction power and dust removal. The vacuum does generate a very healthy 275 air watts of suction. For comparison purposes consider the following (in air watts): Thankfully, the bottom-mounted hatch works to reduce this as much as possible. The filter is also located in the dust container, making it easy to get to when you need to clean it. It also works well on stairs and car upholstery. Additional accessories include a stair tool and a combination tool, which converts to a brush tool ideal for dusting.

Where other vacuum cleaners use bags to trap dust and dirt, the Dyson DC39 Animal Vacuum uses a canister. Dust bags are privy to tiny holes that clog up with dust particles. As you use the vacuum cleaner, the airflow gets restricted by this clog, and the cleaner loses suction. The Dyson DC39 is simply the best cylinder cleaner that we've seen so far. The smooth steering, easy emptying and trigger-based brush bar control make it child's play to use, while the cleaning power is also excellent. It's quite heavy, so it could be a bit of a struggle for cleaning the stairs, but that's really our only gripe. This Dyson had trouble dealing with edges. We found that the Triggerhead brush didn't have suction from the side or the front until .5 inches in. That means when you're vacuuming along a wall, no matter what, you'll have a strip of uncleaned carpet. It's always a pain to bust out the crevice tool for an entire room. Data plays the most important role in our reviewing. Hard numbers justify our opinions about any vacuum. For a vacuum like the Dyson DC39 Animal, cleaning and noise levels concern us. This Dyson Animal uses the famous Ball Technology. Instead of a vacuum that travels on wheels, the vacuum literally spins around on a large sphere enabling the canister to turn uninhibited in any direction. The ball also houses the motor which helps to create a low center of gravity making the machine more stable. In addition, the ball has been acoustically treated to ensure that the vacuum is not too noisy. The ball uses polyurethane sound-insulating materials that help absorb noise and sound dampening mounts are used to attach the motor to the housing. Hardwood floors are challenging to clean in a different way to carpets. It’s slightly slippery, so sometimes the brush doesn’t grip well enough to get all the fine dust and pet hair. The Dyson DC39 excels in this regard. The adaptable brush accessory is made for hardwood floors, and one smooth motion is enough to get all the dirt on the floor. Pros

Having to disassemble and clean the brush so often is a proper schlep, but it’s worth the proper clean. If you have pet hair flying around and you’re looking for something that will work well with capturing all of it and making your life easier, you should get the Dyson DC39 Animal. The vacuum weighs in at 16.9 lbs. This isn’t too heavy but it isn’t that light either. We wouldn’t call this a lightweight vacuum cleaner. You can see our list of lightweight vacuum cleaners here if you like. A review of consumer comments from a large number of sources yielded the following common vacuum likes and dislikes: Hardwood floors are challenging to clean in a different way to carpets. High-pile carpets are notoriously difficult to clean, and mine is no exception. The Dyson DC39 performed significantly better than any other cleaner I’ve used on my high-pile carpets, thanks to the radial root cyclone technology. Suctioning on Hardwood FloorsMy living room is a little crowded – I like a homier, more comfortable look and feel, so the popular minimalist décor trend has flown right past me. The downside to this is having to move sofas, chairs, tables, and comfort cushions around when cleaning.

It performed adequately well, but we’ve seen other vacuums do a bit better job on upholstery. If there was a really good pet hair tool, it likely would have fared better. On the floor, however, it’s a completely different story. This is what makes the DC39 so powerful. The Radial Root Cyclone technology works to increase suction while limiting particles in its airflow. The end result is a vacuum with truly incredible suction power. The Dyson DC39 Animal has a plethora of features that make your cleaning easier and more effective. Some features are non-negotiable when it comes to a competent vacuum cleaner. Others aren’t needed, but make your life so much easier.

It’s a bit on the bulky side, but it maneuvers like a champ. Its unique design lends to its ability to get to hard-to-reach areas in the home. At 16 pounds, it’s one of the lighter vacuums on the market. Combined with its strong suction and ball technology, the DC39 is easily managed. The fact that the Dyson DC39 Animal is so easy to use might encourage you take it out of your closet more often. And that's half the battle, isn't it? Cleaning Performance Does not perform up to its price I put together this Dyson DC39 Animal review to give you some information about the features, benefits, and pros and cons, and my overall verdict on it. Features of Dyson DC39 Animal The wind-up power cable can be retracted at the touch of a button, while the dust container can be removed just as easily by pressing the release button. Another tap of the button opens up the bottom of the container to release the grime directly into the bin, so there's no need to mess about with changing cleaner bags.

For a vacuum of this style, its dust container’s capacity is rather decent. You get a total of 2 quarts to work with. That being said, you’ll likely find yourself emptying it out often. Depending on how regularly you sweep and what kind of debris you’re sweeping up, your time with this will vary.It also works well on stairs and car upholstery. Additional accessories include a stair tool and a combination tool, which converts to a brush tool ideal for dusting. Triggerhead Tool
