About this deal
We are separately considering how we can support the sector over the medium term, in light of the consequences of COVID-19, and will involve partners in the discussion. Care homes can now access testing for all their residents and staff. Tests are available for booking via a new digital portal for care home testing. The portal will make it as easy as possible for care homes to arrange tests, enabling them to register directly for delivery and collection of test kits. While you and your staff can perform the majority of cleaning jobs in care homes, there are some procedures which are best outsourced. This includes the following cleaning tasks:
a general purpose neutral detergent in a solution of warm water followed by disinfection solution of 1,000ppm av.cl. Pat hands dry after hand washing using disposable paper towels. Avoid rubbing which may lead to skin irritation/damage. In certain circumstances using standard infection control precautions (SICPs) won’t be enough to stop an infection spreading and you will need to use some extra precautions. These extra precautions are called Transmission Based Precautions or TBPs. Many do pay attention to them because corridors and lobbies always lead to the rooms they intend to go. Lobbies and corridors can make impressions as much as any other room in the house. These are the main sources of PPE guidance for the social care sector. Reducing workforce movement between care homes and minimising risk for care workers
use hand wipes followed by ABHR if there is no running water available or if hand hygiene facilities are out of reach then wash hands at the first available opportunity. Dust tables, TV stand, shelves, electronics (ie. TV, DVD player, etc.), and window sills, baseboards, and blinds
