About this deal

If you are determined to ban pet snails from your home, remember the saying “An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.” Carefully inspect any new plants, and manually remove all snails and snail eggs. Some people run their plants under running water to help wash away any unseen hitchhikers. Then place the plant in a quarantine tank with light and fertilizers, and continuously remove any snails that appear. Snail eggs can take 1-4 weeks to hatch, depending on the species and water temperature, so this process requires some patience. While there are several treatment solutions out there, one that I found helpful is a hydrogen peroxide mix.

Another great option is to dip them in potassium permanganate. This chemical is rather effective in killing snails, but it won’t harm the plant itself. One standard method is to use a piece of lettuce as bait. Place the lettuce in a jar or container and leave it in the tank overnight. The snails will be attracted to the lettuce and crawl into the pot, where they can then be removed in the morning. The first step is to find a container that will fit snugly against the side of your aquarium. A cup or jar works well for this purpose. Once you have your container, drill or poke a small hole in the bottom. The next step is to bait your trap. Snails are attracted to both fresh and saltwater, so you can use either to bait your trap. Also, most chemicals will kill other intervertebral pets, such as shrimp. Take your blue tiger shrimp out on time! While it is true that salt will irritate aquatic snails, in my experience, it’s not potent enough to completely get rid of them and their eggs.

Method #1: Less Food

It’s important to know when to add fish to a newly planted tank. If you don’t quarantine or disinfect the plant with bleach or salt beforehand, don’t be surprised if you end up with a few new pets!

Unlike bleach, Hydrogen Peroxide breaks down to water and oxygen when exposed to light, so I personally prefer using it for disinfecting my new plants. For the bleach solution make sure you use gloves and even protective goggles. Author’s note: Take time to figure out how much food to feed your fish. This is usually a trial-and-error process, but in the end, you can know the ideal portions pretty accurately. Here’s a guide that may help. Use a chemical treatment (not the best method)Even though they are known as “pest snails,” ramshorn snails are often kept by fish keepers for their cleaning abilities and beautiful color variations. Therefore, feeding your fish just enough food is a great way to deal with the issue of snails and harmful compounds at the same time. The trap itself. I have found an old breeding box works well, but if you don’t have a breeding box, no problem! Any container will do as long as you are able to poke some small holes in it. The holes need to allow the water to drain out, while containing the snails, so pretty small. I think the bottom of a plastic water bottle would work great for this.
