About this deal

There was no chemistry between the main character and either of her love interests....are we really supposed to believe that she's attracted to Langton when he's yelling at her all the time? This is my least favorite of the series so far (yes, I gave them all 3 stars, but if Goodreads let us rate on a 1-10 scale, the others would have 7 and this one would just have 4). Anna Travis does her usual thing in this novel, going off on dangerous tangents alone. Yes, yes, we know she will get into trouble, jeopardise the investigation etc etc, but it all turns out okay in the end, doesn't it? Once again she's gone with American spelling-authorized/apologized/modernization...there were missing speechmarks and dropped commas, there were apostrophes missing as well for variation. Lynda La Plante’s legacy as a writer and a trailblazer for women in the entertainment industry is secure. Her contributions to the crime drama genre have earned her a place in television history, and her books continue to entertain and inspire readers around the world.

Really enjoyed this police procedural. Was looking to experience a new author in the mystery genre, when I came across this book in my local library. This is the fourth book in the Anna Travis series. Anna now has experience in the field as a member of various iterations of Murder Squads and has learned much from her former lover/boss, James Langton.Lynda La Plante is an award winning and bestselling English novelist and screenwriter. She is best known for her Prime Suspect ITV series starring Jane Tennison.

Lynda has received a huge amount of awards over her time in the field, including becoming an honorary-member of both the Liverpool John Moores University and British Film Institute. She was also awarded with the Dennis-Potter Writers-Award from the British-Academy of Film and Television Arts, and she received the Edgar-Allan Poe Writer’s Award (not to mention an Emmy) for her mini-series Prime Suspect. Another pacing issue lies with Travis's constant personal drama and soul-searching -- having broken up with Chief Superintendent James Langton after a fairly melodramatic affair -- and her constant stress to still be able to deal with him every day as her superior. While this fits in with the pair's dramatic relational issues in previous novels, the tone is completely different and nearly every time that Travis really gets going on the case, she gets caught up in drama with Langton. The books then go on to follow Anna Travis’s career in the police. In the second book, she is now a Detective Inspector and she is still working with her partner, James Langton. Above Suspicion Dedicated, intuitive and utterly obsessive, DCI James Langton is ruthless in his pursuit of a gang of illegal immigrants, killers of a young prostitute. When he is horrifically, almost fatally injured by one of them, it falls upon DI Anna Travis to put her own career on hold as she nurses him through his intense frustration and desperation to bring his would-be murderer to justice. Terrible for a plot that demands an unfamiliarity with both police procedure and basic logic, and an over-reliance on the type of plotting that made both Hunter and TJ Hooker brief stars in the 80s TV police drama constellation. In 1994, she created her own television production company, La Plante Productions, where she wrote and produced the sequel to Widows. The case is quite clever - the connections that slowly have to be built up to explain why Brandon was in the drug squat, what would lead to his presence being so threatening that somebody would blindly shoot him through a closed door, how the other bodies turning up are connected and onwards is actually nicely baffling and quite interesting. But it drags on for too long. There are too many connections and "coincidences" which aren't - and they obviously aren't, and it all grinds to a halt in the personal lives of all and sundry too frequently. Lynda La Plante was born Lynda J. Titchmarsh on March 15, 1943, in Newton-le-Willows, Lancashire, England. Her father was a salesman, and her mother was a secretary. La Plante attended a local grammar school, where she excelled in English literature. She grew up in Liverpool, Merseyside. After attending the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) training for stage, she appeared with the Royal Shakespeare Company in several productions and well-known television series under the stage name Lynda Marchal. With the murder squad’s newly renovated headquarters looking much better than had been expected, DCI Anna Travis gazed around on her return from a welcome break – a holiday which had left her tanned and relaxed. As each of her team members arrived, they were told to expect DCS James Langton for a meeting – he had a special case which required their attention. It turned out to be a case which had been closed six months previously, deemed suicide. A prisoner awaiting trial had told a guard that Josh Reynolds had been murdered – DCI Travis was put in charge of finding out the truth. Langton also informed Anna that she would have a special FBI Agent who was a crime scene expert to help her out. Jessie Dewar was doing special research so the FBI had sent her to the MET in London to work with the murder investigation squad. But Jessie made no friends with her abrupt and know-it-all manner; Anna’s team, including Anna herself, immediately had their noses out of joint, being told by someone from the USA what to do in the UK – she didn’t even know the road rules!

Anna Travis novels have been adapted into a British crime drama titled Above Suspicion. The series features Ciaran Hinds and Kelly Reilly as the main characters James Langton and Anna Travis. Four seasons were aired for over four years; the first episode premiered on January 2009 while the last episode aired in January 2012. The first three seasons all were aired on consecutive nights while the fourth season aired on a weekly format. BEST ANNA TRAVIS BOOKS There doesn't seem to be an upcoming book in The Anna Travis Series. The newest book is Wrongful Death and was released on August, 29th 2013. Midgley, Neil (12 June 2008). "ITV to reinvent Prime Suspect". The Daily Telegraph. London . Retrieved 25 December 2008.This led to her being a sought after writer and would make her debut in crime fiction writing with “The Legacy” which was released in 1987. From the year 1979 until the year 1996, she was married to Richard La Plante (who is a musician); the marriage ended with the couple getting divorced, after they were married for seventeen years.

Bloodline– Newly promoted DCI Anna Travis takes charge of an investigation for the first time. But is it purely a missing person’s case–or a full-blown murder inquiry? An ominous pool of blood and no victim lead Anna on a desperate hunt for a man who has disappeared without a trace. As Anna becomes obsessed with seemingly irrelevant details, her superintendent fears that she is losing control. With no body there is no case, and Anna is under increasing pressure to make an arrest. The rest of the office is pretty much ignored beyond there are other officers working there. So I never really felt I got to know any of them and they were barely distinguishable from each other. One female can't get a sandwich without tomatoes, the other female isn't made to get lunch, one male has a newborn baby and the other male does not. investigation takes them to a drug dealer who disappeared 10 years ago but is still on the FBI’s Most Wanted list. Reading, as I do, rather a lot of crime fiction in a year, it's normally possible to find something positive. In the earlier books, even in the last one I finished, Travis was a good character who could lift a book's ranking, even one that has a flawed plot, or a lot of filler, or some daft red herrings. In WRONGFUL DEATH, however, she's not strong enough for that much heavy lifting.

Son dönem İngiliz polisiyeleri nedense çok beğendim katagorisine sokamayan ben için bu gayet büyük bir şey olabilir:) Anna is assigned to her first homicide case, a string of grisly murders that have gone unsolved for the past eight years. The discovery of a new victim, who doesn't fit the usual profile of prostitute or drug user, causes concern that the killer may be indiscriminately targeting his victims. Eager to prove herself, Anna uncovers a vital piece of evidence linking one man to all the killings. But things get complicated when she finds herself attracted to the prime suspect.
