About this deal

When dealing with electricity, it's wise to deal with a product from a company with a good reputation in the field — Anker has that. The Powerhouse II 400 does a whole lot right in terms of utility and features. From the outlets' charging capabilities included to the useful information displayed on the screen, this power station almost does it all. Throw in the bonus of two different LED flashlight styles, and the Powerhouse II 400 is an excellent off-grid buddy.

This power station’s built-in AC wall outlet, similar to otherRV generatorsfrom this brand, uses a Pure Sine Wave Inverter. It means you can expect a power output from this device as if you are getting a power output from your home. The founder of this company established it in 2011. When the company was established, it operated from Shenzhen in Guangdong, China. Nevertheless, it soon moved its headquarters to its present location Changsha. Soon after its establishment, the brand expanded its attention from replacement batteries to smartphone battery chargers. Even the company focused on conferencing gear, portable power, and wall chargers. In 2020, Zhao Dongping became, this company’s president, who was earlier working as the head of sales for Google in China. What You Get: PowerHouse II 400 portable power station, 65W Adapter, USB-A to USB-C Cable, USB-C to USB-C Cable, welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service. While there is a lot to like with the Anker Powerhouse II 400, there are still a few downsides. There is only a single USB-C and AC outlet on the Powerhouse. As more and more devices move to USB-C as the charging method, it would be nice to have additional ports for that medium since higher wattage devices use USB-C to C cables rather than USB-A to C. Ports for All: The power station has all the ports you need to charge your devices and appliances. It is equipped with 4 AC ports, 3 USB-A ports, a USB-C port, and a car outlet.

This best Anker PowerHousecan be recharged through a USB-C power delivery wall or car charger. Otherwise, you can also power it using an AC power adapter. It is compatible with 5-22V DC output solar chargers. Nevertheless, you will have to buy these chargers separately as they are not part of this power generator system. The Explorer 1000 provides 1,000 Watts of power through a wide variety of ports: three 110V household outlets, two USB-C outlets, two standard USB ports, and a 12V 10A DC car outlet. This thing can power a blender for 13 straight hours…if that’s your thing. You do you, I guess. Testing: I tested this powerhouse with my phone, laptop, flashlight, Light ring, tablet, my Cpap machine and my 3D printer. I used the standard USB-A port to first test my phone and see how long it took to charge, using my Samsung Galaxy S20FE it took roughly 1 hour and 19 minutes from 5% battery life. When I used the USB-C port it took 1 hour and 14 minutes to charge my phone fully from 5%, it seems that my phone did not fully use the USB C port to its full potential and it could be because of the variable power requirement of these new phones and power IQ 3.0 just cant handle that. My biggest surprise came as I tested the light ring I had for my lightbox, it drew roughly 40w of power even though its suppose to be low powered lights and are only suppose to draw between 5 and 10w. I then plugged it into a standard outlet and noticed the lights were dimmer and not as bright as when plugged into the powerhouse. This is when i realized the powerhouse was overpowering the lights and its regulator was failing when plugged into the powerhouse. So I stopped using the lights and chalked it up to them failing. My other test came when using my 3D printer which drew around 230w of power and ran consistently until the powerhouse died, I am thankful my printer has auto resume as I was able to plug it into a wall outlet and continue printing my parts. I didnt get any pictures of this or its run time because I had left it to run while I was at work and came home and plugged it in. My cpap machine lasted only 3 hours when plugged into the powerhouse which is longer than I had expected it to, but its also because I didn’t run the dehumidifier on it which draws significantly more power.

Even though mini generators aren't as powerful as gas-powered small or portable generators, they have some really obvious advantages. For one, they can be safely used inside without worrying about toxic chemicals or fumes. If you think that 388.8Wh sounds like a lot of power, you’d be right. Based on average figures, you can get around five laptop charges, 23 phone charges, six hours of a mini-fridge and up to 30 hours out of a wireless router. Actual power draw and your specific devices will affect this. With this 213 Wh generator from Anker, you can pump power for your small appliances, computers, emergency equipment, and mobile devices. You can get your MacBook Pro charged more than five times, while you can recharge your phone over 12 times. Even after recharging this unit completely, you can run your small appliances like a mini-fridge for more than four hours.

Aside from the more common uses of powering my various gadgets in places I either don't have traditional electrical means, or because I don't feel like dragging out an extension cord, the Powerhouse has aided in multiple power outage situations too. This power bank has come in clutch, from a vehicle accident that took out a power pole to the frigid weather that hit the central US in February. The mini generator can be recharged in several different ways including straight from a wall outlet, 12V DC car outlet, or via solar panel. With two adapters and using the fast recharging mode, the AC200P can be fully charged in less than four hours. That sort of performance doesn’t come cheap but for my money, it’s well worth it. Since I first reviewed the Anker Powerhouse II 400, I have found myself utilizing it for a wide number of applications. When you have one of the best high-capacity power banks on the market, that has so much utility to offer, you tend to rethink electrical availability in various situations.Stable Power Supply: The built-in AC wall outlet uses a pure sine wave inverter to ensure the power output is just as good as what you get at home.
