About this deal

My favorite book in the series and my favorite hero in the series. Honestly, Ben, it should be illegal to be this perfect, Tate made reading this book so much more enjoyable. I wish there was his pov because he would carried the boy obsessed trope perfectly.

Samantha Brentmoor brought this audiobook to life and my goodness she does a fantastic job on this solo project. Samantha is an incredibly talented woman and her performance as Gemma and Ben was phenomenal. I felt every emotion the characters went through and always know when I see Samantha’s name that a book is in good hands. anyways, the devil series started off cute with talia and hayes ( A Deal with the Devil - he gave her 16 orgasms in 1 night... sus but okay), but then dr josh stepped into the scene in book 2 and stole my heart and my POOSAY too 🤰🏽( The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea), but ben and gemma? YOUR HONOR THEY STOLE MY LIFE!!! I've already mentioned the romance being chef's kiss, but so was the writing, and the whole plot that revolved around Gemma's family issues. I felt for her and my heart ached whenever I read about her putting others' happiness in front of her own.ow/om drama- we get details of heroines last relationship (nothing sexually descriptive, just how their relationship was and where her trust issues came from), and a few mentions of how hero always dates around and brings them to events. He goes on one date in the beginning of the book, but nothing happens (also only shown in the bonus chapters). Heroine later goes on a date because she thought hero was cheating but nothing happens. This book was entirely in Gemma's POV (minus the prologue), so I often had no idea what was going on in Ben's head. This really only bothered me towards the end because a lot was revealed all at once and it felt a little rushed/unexpected. I think had we seen any of Ben's POV, it wouldn't have felt that way. But obviously there is an allure to not knowing what he's thinking and learning more about him solely through Gemma. Like I started to do on a daily basis, lately, I've listened to this while I was at work and I think I died a thousand times in my cold suit because of Gemma and Ben and how perfect and hot these two were. Now potential spoilers, but I just have to write more about this man. I apologize in advance as this review will mainly focus on him.

This can’t be a surprise to you. I’ve been in love with you for two years straight. You were the only reason I interviewed there in the first place." He hit a guy who assaulted her, and got arrested for it knowing he is a lawyer and it could destroy his reputation.

See a Problem?

I loved both Gemma and Ben. Gemma is the type of person who doesn’t take shit from anyone but she also had a big heart. It is one of my favorite combinations in a character. Ben was grumpy but he was also really sweet and utterly obsessed with Gemma 😌. I loved that he was the one wanting more while Gemma was a bit more reluctant to date him. There’s a devil on my shoulder, and every Monday morning she announces herself. She’s this delicious flame in my chest, a flurry of whispered suggestions in my ear. Suggestions I ignore…because every single one of them is about Ben Tate. Ben–Stealer of Clients, Evicter of Homeless Women, Nemesis. Sitting across from me every damn Monday with his lovely, smug smile and his too-perfect teeth, the living symbol of everything I hate. It’s been my policy to avoid him, but when a case comes into the firm–one that could change his career and mine–I make an exception. It means weekends and evenings by his side. It means enduring his smirk and his smart mouth and never taking the bait. Until the night Ben says, “Beg.” And that devil on my shoulder decides to make a few demands of her own. The Devil You Know (Devil, #3) by Elizabeth O’Roark – eBook Details Despite all her prejudices–somewhat legitimate, as they come from past experiences–Gemma was a great character. She’s dedicated, has a good heart, and wants to change the office’s ways. It was terribly frustrating to see how her bosses kept interfering. Her journey wasn’t an easy one. Third, the narrator for this book was great and her version of Gemma's mom sounded a lot like Jennifer Coolidge, but the way she chenged her voice when she read Ben's lines was so grating I couldn't handle it, especially during smutty scenes/dialogues. You’ll eat an acai bowl at any hour of the day, and you’re the only person alive who prefers strawberries to donuts, which is why I’ve been buying them for staff meetings for the past year.”

Elizabeth O'Roark knows how to perfectly execute enemies to friends to lovers trope and she has done it again with this book. Individually, Ben and Gemma are amazing characters that have so much depth. Ben is arrogant, but charming all in the same and is a hopeless romantic. We don't get his POV in this book, but you can see the good man that he is through Gemma's POV and how much he deeply cares for her. My breath skitters over my lips while I contemplate repeating it, but I’ve done this before, and it didn’t end well for me. “Nothing.” We know that Ben is whipped for this woman the minute he talks about his kink for her heels, but for Gemma it’s much more of a slow-burn. He slowly melts the ice wall around her heart by making her feel valued every step of the way. Ben is incredibly patient, but that’s exactly what Gemma needed. She needed someone who worshipped her and phew, did Ben worship her (in and out of the bedroom).

Elizabeth O'Roark's writing is amazing. I found out about this author by accident, while looking for another one; Destiny was on my side when She put me in the way of this fantastic book and it's stupidly pretty cover. Elizabeth O'Roark manages to weave stories that are the perfect blend of swoony romance and really hard topics. You know what’s fun about the men you date?” he replies. “The way they don’t exist in the first place.” I thought Drew and Josh's book was my favorite, but this completely won me over. Ben and Gemma have a beautiful story that I simply could not put down. Samantha gives an engaging performance as Gemma. This story is about women in corporate America, working in a male-dominated profession - law. Samantha puts us right inside Gemma’s head feeling her frustrations and anger at the patriarchal system of the company she works for. We simply feel her hate for Ben turn to love. As always Samantha brings her “A” game on the male voice front, easily flipping between all the characters' different voices. Such amazing skills producing a seemingly effortless narration which you just know is way harder work than she makes it sound.
