About this deal

The ZEB Select is specced with a DebonAir+ air spring and the more basic Charger RC damper. The rest of the technology is carried over from the Select+ model, apart from the Pressure Relief Valves, which can be retrofitted if desired. Solo Air and DebonAir only:Compress the fork through at least 50% of its travel five times to equalize positive and negative air pressures. Air pressure equalization ensures the positive air spring is accurately pressurized. Pressurize the air spring to the recommended starting pressure once more. Remove the pump. Do not compress the suspension with the pump attached.

Then, there's the Pike Select+ that runs most of what the Ultimate gets but it drops the lightweight crown and Buttercups tech. This one looks to be OEM only and isn't available aftermarket. Raidon is potentially a big step up from the XCR32 in the Suntour range but make sure you get the 34 model, not the 32. That’s because the larger diameter 34mm legs aren’t just a lot stiffer and more accurate in terms of steering, they also allow longer travel options, brake rotors up to 203mm and they’re strong enough to plug into E-bikes. The Judy chassis has been designed specifically around Boost hub spacing and compatibility with up to a 2.8in wide tyre. The one-piece magnesium lowers are tied together with a 15mm diameter Maxle, which offers a tools-free lever to remove the front wheel. Other features include post-mount brake tabs, and an integrated bolt-on cable guide for the front brake hose. The Judy Silver TK fork is OEM only, and uses cheaper steel upper tubes and a Turnkey damper. These, new for 2023, add an additional 5% of torsional stiffness but are removable if you're not interested. Flight Attendant The Recon is designed as a cost-effective, high-value cross-country fork built with 32mm stanchions. With travel from 80mm up to 150mm. It also fits up to 2.8in tyres without fenders.

Rounding up the Pike range is the Pike base which comes with a Rush RC damper, DebonAir+ air spring and everything that we get on the Select model, including the opportunity to upgrade the fork to use Pressure Relief Valves. Like the Select+, this one looks like it's OEM only. So, if you are looking for an adjustable fork for your bike, go for the Judy Gold. However, if you are a beginner and on a budget, the Judy silver will be good. The Pike Select gets a more basic Charger RC damper, with easy-to-adjust low-speed compression and rebound. Apart from the Pressure Relief Valves, which can be retrofitted, the Pike Select shares the same DebonAir+ air spring, seals and damper fluid as the rest of the Pike line-up. The air presure required in your fork will vary depending on the model of fork, and the style of your bike. For DebonAir, SoloAir, and Dual Postion Air, you will determine require pressure based on the percent sag, the amount of full travel that the suspension compresses when the ride is on the bicycle in a normal riding position. There is also a new piston wear band inside the damper, which is said to better manage oil flow, while a new rod seal from SKF is claimed to reduce friction by upwards of 30% at the rebound shaft. Please note, this fork has a straight 1 1/8" steerer tube and 9mm QR dropouts nottapered and bolt through as pictured.

The motion control damper allows maximum adjustment. It features both rebound and compression adjustment. This is very useful when you are riding on different terrains. The travel of the fork is also adjustable from 80 to 120 mm. Boost is the name given for the latest wheel axle spacing. Boost forks use a 110mm width hub, whereas older forks and wheels use a standard 100mm width. While it may not sound much, getting the wrong one will be make or break when it comes to installation compatibility. I opted for the 29er version with 120 mm of travel since I planned on pairing the Judy with an NS Bikes aluminum eccentric frame that’s more geared towards trail than cross country. The tapered steerer tube and boost hub spacing (both rare at this price point) along with post mounts for the disc brake and the ability to run 29 or 27.5+ tires were exactly what I was looking for. I’m not much of a weight weenie, so I don’t own a super precise scale, but the weight seemed reasonable for a 120 mm travel 29er fork. Building the fork up, there were no issues cutting the steerer tube, installing the star nut, or fitting the brake. Coil spring on TK 15X100 [A2] and TK [B1] and Silver TK [D1], air spring on Silver TK [C1] and Silver TK [D1] and Silver RL [D1] and RL 15X100 [A2] and RL [B1] and Gold RL [A5], DebonAir air spring on Gold RL [C1].

RockShox suspension forks

This is an updated version of the Charger 2 damper seen on 'Ultimate' forks with some changes to the valving, such as less high-speed compression damping and more low-speed compression damping to make the fork sit up high in its travel.
