About this deal

text": "Bed rails can be wooden or mesh. Wooden bed rails are more contemporary in their design and often blend in with a child’s bed and bedroom furniture. These toddler bed guards are a perfect match for wooden beds and wooden cot beds, as they can almost look to be part of the actual bed. It’s worth bearing in mind, though, that a wooden bed frame is less versatile than other bed guards, as once in place it has no fold down mechanism. The benefit, however, is a much stronger more resilient and durable bed guard. Wooden bed rails are a fixed bed rail. Once installed beneath the mattress the bed rail cannot fold down. These bed rails provide a cot-like appearance and provide the safety of a cot, yet allow your child to climb in and out of bed independently. text": "Children’s bed rails are recommended for use between the ages of 18 months through to five years. From the age of five, a bed guard should be taken down. This is because beyond the age of five children are stronger and their weight is heavier, meaning bed guards may not be able to sustain the weight, strength, and curiosity of an older child. However, some children may benefit beyond the age of five with a bed rail installed should they be prone to sleeping near the edge of their bed or if they are active sleepers and move frequently in their sleep. There are many types of grab rail. The main types are briefly introduced below, before going into greater detail about grab rails and their use in specific areas of the home.

Using one rail: The rail is fitted starting at a point approximately 25mm forward of your knee and approximately 50-70mm above your elbow (when seated on the toilet with your arms down against your side), at an angle running at 45 degrees forwards and upwards away from you. This may help you to support the weight of your arm whilst pulling with your hand higher up the rail. See above diagram. A vertical rail at least 500mm long can be fixed at the entrance to the shower compartment for use when stepping in and out of the cubicle. The rail should be mounted at a height that the user can comfortably reach whilst stood both from outside the cubicle and from in the cubicle. For a non-inflatable option, you might want to consider the Milliard Travel Bed Bumper. This foam bumper fits under the sheet to provide a secure barrier for your child.

What is the best bed guard for a double bed?

Unlike mesh bed guards, our wooden bed rails do not feature the 90 degrees fold down mechanism. A wooden bed rail once fitted holds one position only. Wooden bed rails are not recommended for inflatable beds, upper bunk beds, or cots, but are suited to single beds, double beds, king, and queen beds. Plan on pulling out your portable bed rail and trying it out before you travel. Especially with the inflatable ones, there is always a chance (though slim) that you could get one with a leak. You don’t want to find that out when you’re already on your trip!

Before positioning your bed guard, it is important to ensure you are fitting a suitable bed rail for the bed and mattress intended. With all bed rails and child bed guards, it is recommended that there is at least a clear 25cm gap between each end of the bed and the bed rail. Portable bed rails are perfect for older toddlers as well as older kids who tend to move around a lot while sleeping. A high contrast finish may be helpful if you have low vision - choose grab rails in a colour that contrasts with the wall it is to be installed on. text": "Bed rails are suitable for cot beds and toddler beds and provide the safest solution for toddlers making the transition from a cot to a bed. A bed rail provides the safety of a cot by preventing your toddler from falling out of their bed yet provides them with their first steps to independence as they can climb out of bed once they wake. Our stair gates and room dividers will prevent them from entering any unsafe areas of the home once they're out of bed. You can install one of our screw fit safety gates at the top of the stairs to keep your little one safe. It is important to fit a compatible bed guard to your toddler's bed to ensure the ultimate safety and, upon installation, make sure there is little to no movement. Bed guards should be installed at the head of the bed and not at the centre or foot of the bed and a 25cm gap between the bed rail and both ends of the bed should be visible"Important Note: It does NOT include a frail elderly person who is otherwise able-bodied or any person who is only temporarily disabled or incapacitated, such as with a broken limb.
