About this deal

Barty Miller now is in the curious position of owning a majority share of Lyttons, the publishing house that belongs to the family that raised her. Now powerful and rich, yet alone, she is far away from the cowed slum kid rescued by Celia Lytton years ago. However how’s she going to act now toward the family that always made her feel like she didn’t belong? And what sort of secrets are still in the Lytton past just waiting to be uncovered? Kit Lytton, blinded during his early twenties in service for the RAF, comes to terms with the fact that his dad isn’t Oliver Lytton which he first believed. However, it’s Sebastian Brooke, the children’s author. His sense of betrayal is huge, however worse is the fact that the woman he loves is in fact his sister.

I thought I'd read this, but now I'm not sure! I got so many and they all got mixed up when I moved and I had no system where 'these are read' and 'there are to be read', which makes things so confusing! Windfall is highly recommended it is ‘unputdownable’, it is many way a guilty pleasure, with many late nights included.

Vincenzi was also a fashion journalist who worked for various publications, including the Daily Mirror and Vogue. [2] Personal life [ edit ] The Best of Times” is a stand alone novel and was released in the year 2009. The actions of a single person can drastically affect many people in just the blink of an eye. One of the other characters in the book, Graydon Townsend, a journalist who begins investigating Bard in the hopes of getting a big story, was probably my favorite character. His own life is torn apart and he develops as a character as he investigates Bard.

Slow start... I felt like I was reading the 2nd book of a series, since there were many characters/relationships that aren't fully explained. The book improved as it went along, although I didn't feel it was as good as her "No Angel" trilogy. She does, however, grasp British society from 1900 through WWII extremely well and, if you enjoy reading about rich English people during that time period, you will like this book. Was it the best book ever? No, not a long shot. Was it an enjoyable read? Yes, if you like Penny Vincenzi. Her family, Headline and her agent Clare Alexander are sad to announce the death of their beloved Penny Vincenzi who died peacefully on February 25th. Penny Vincenzi in 2007: never a diva, she kept scrupulously to deadlines and took a personal interest in the lives of those with whom she worked. Photograph: Graeme Robertson/The Guardian Vincenzi’s agent, Clare Alexander, said: “Her special gift as a novelist was her love for her characters, and that came from her deep interest in not only the people in her imagination, but also in pretty well everyone she ever met. Gradually their privileged world darkens in rather unimaginable ways, however it isn’t only the twins whose lives have been irrevocably alter. Barty Miller, who was rescued out of the London slums when he was a baby by Celia Lytton, is ambitious, clever, and a complete contrast to these twins. She faces temptation of the most unexpected sort. Fellow authors remembered Vincenzi online, including Katie Fforde and Sophie Kinsella, who called her “the most entertaining of friends”. Novelist Harriet Evans, who edited Vincenzi before turning to writing fiction herself, said that working with her was “the highlight of my publishing career, hands down”.
