One of the main problems that the GPD XD 2 needs to overcome is the firmware it uses to play the vast catalogue of games available to it. You can also forego the right-side controls entirely to reduce the profile of the unit, and rely on the touch screen for inputs. In summary, EXCELLENT for Steam In-Home Streaming (AAAAND the new Steam Link app) or for nVidia GameSteam over Moonlight APK. Also good for most Emulators up to the fifth/sixth gen consoles. Migrating to a MediaTek SOC and doubling the ram/storage yields a snappy system with all-day battery life (I unplugged this at around 8am today and the battery was still at about 14% when I plugged it in after 8pm, using it heavily but sporadically throughout the day. 6000MaH is roughly 2x the battery capacity of a Samsung Galaxy S7 phone, for context).

GPD XD Plus Performance Review
The XP is reported to run Android 11. While it’s unknown what specific launcher GPD will use, from leaked screenshots it appears to be similar to the GPD XD Plus’s design. When the device is closed it’s veryreminiscent of a 3DS XL, which is no bad thing. As noted by others on the dingoonity boards, it seems that the top half of the unit is finished in a very glossy, slightly sparkly paint, whilst the bottom half is simply dark grey. I imagined this would look strange, but it’s barely noticeable. The entire thing is a massive fingerprint magnet though, I had to polish it with a cloth before taking any pictures. Navigate to “ GPD_EN-images-v1.07_20171228user ” folder, then “ images ”, and choose the “ MT8173_Android_scatter.txt ” file. It may take a few seconds for the data to load and you will see similar to the below image. With a faster and smoother operating system, online play will be perfect. Come on, GPD; this Android OS needs to be spot-on this time! Final Thoughts. . .
Connect the USB cable to your PC, press and hold the VOL- button on the GPD XD+ and while doing so, insert the micro USB cable into the GPD XD+. It is also possible to expand the storage further using a microSD card. Users can opt to use a microSDHC or microSDXC (which we highly reccomend) for increased speeds.

[09/09/2021 Update]: GPD XP Gameplay Footage Performance is solid and there’s enough storage on the 32GB model to hold thousands of titles. The physical controls are great too, and the added bonus is that they enrich a great many Android games that support external pads and controllers. For those that don’t, the unit’s built-in button mapping software neatly fills the gap.
You can play your ROMs, but you will have trouble playing some of the best ones, which makes this a bit of a hard sell. You can connect to wireless controllers, which is a unique feature. The XP features a Mediatek Helio G95 CPU. The G95 is an octa-core processor that is most commonly found in mid-range Android smartphones, including Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 10S, and more obscure Chinese smartphones like the Infinix Note 10 Pro. As expected, the GPD XP can handle a variety of Android games comfortably. It is also very competent at emulation, being capable of handling GameCube, PSP games, and even the odd Wii and PS2 game here and there. [19/10/2021 Update]: GPD XP Release Date, GPD XP Unboxing, and more… There are two main methods to update the firmware on your device, either using a microSD card, or a Windows PC and USB cable… The GPD XP does not have a release date at the time of writing (10/08/2021). However, if we use the average time GPD provide between announcement and release, we can expect the GPD XP to be released in late Q4 2021 at the very earliest.The GPD XD Plus excels at Android gaming. It can handle the latest games such as Call of Duty: Mobile and favourites such as Space Marshals and Stranger Things: The Game.
