About this deal

Don't dwell on the past. Sometimes you have to let it go to appreciate what you have in the present.

Sudden Anatomy: When Scrooge tells Dewey that Santa cannot be trusted, his eyes briefly gain visible irises.

Sunday After Christmas-Honor is given Joseph the Guardian (i.e. also called Righteous Joseph), David the King (the son of Jesse) and Iakovos, the (step-brother) of Christ, the 1st bishop of Jerusalem. A Christmas Carole is, as the name suggests, Moore's version of a time hallowed classic, one without which no collection of Christmas ghost stories would be complete. It's familiar, but she also gives it a distinct twist and make sit her own. They don’t have a particularly Christmassy theme (apart from a couple) but they are very much within the strange tales genre. The stories fit into a wider series of books Moore has written, the Essex Witch Museum stories starring a character called Rosie Strange, who pops up in at least one of these. Death is one of the common themes. The five golden rings rerepresented the first five books of the Old Testament, which describe man's fall into sin and the great love of God in sending a Savior.

Scrooge realizes that abandoning his family at Christmas time is not acceptable, especially since family is among life's excitements. At the same time, Dewey realizes he's been wallowing in his bitterness and ignoring his family when all they wanted is to spend Christmas with him, the same thing young Donald was doing. Teen Donald plays the guitar. We know from an earlier episode that in college he'd join a band named "The Three Caballeros". When traveling through time, Scrooge is hanging off of Past's foot (with the rest of the spirits then hanging off his foot). Gives Glory and Praise to her, who bore our Lord. Also on the 26this the commemoration of the Flight into Egypt when an angel warned Joseph of King Herod's plans to kill the children in Bethlehem. Good Is Not Soft: While it's questionable if Scrooge intended for the Ghost of Christmas Past to suffer so much, and readily reconciles when given the opportunity, he makes no apology for leaving him alone in the past either given what the spirit tried to do to him.Even though it's not a Hallmark movie, I watch The Spirit of Christmas every year. It's so enjoyable! The acting is great, the story is fresh, and the setting is very festive.

The title cards for the end credits are done in the same style as the original short film's opening credits. The House on Savage Lane’ is satisfying gruesome with a twist that is practically guaranteed to creep up out of nowhere and catch the reader unawares, but in the same vein, ‘Jocelyn’s Story’ is a twisted tale of a beautiful lady and her aspirations for Betty Grable’s vital statistics that doesn’t quite have the surprising punch of the former story. Bowdlerize: The Wendigo is described as a person who went mad and transformed into a monster due to their obsession and desperation instead of through committing cannibalism as in the traditional myths.

The collection does feature some stories which were in The Strange Casebook published last year but there are as many new ones, and the older stories stand up very well to rereading. If you've read and enjoyed the Essex Witch Museum books you'll have the chance to spot how the stories fit in to that world. Dramatic Irony: After spending much of Christmas Eve night brooding in his room, Teen Donald promises Teen Della they won't spend any more Christmases apart. Sadly, both Dewey and the audience know this isn't true.Blame Game: When Scrooge furiously asks who put up the giant Santa animatronic, everyone points at Louie while Louie points at Huey.
